I am looking for the infamous duramold cabinet.. Why??? Simple... I want to make these available.. Soooo....

Anyone have one???

Would you be doing it by the same process as it was originally made? I always thought it would make a hell of a multi WMS cabinet.

Yes, by the looks of the cabinet it was done vacformed. I will be able to do that as well.

Stay tuned...

It was rotationally molded out of a proprietary polypropylene. The plastic was approximately 1/4" thick. Which is why they were damn near indestructible.

Unfortunately, according to arcade urban legend, when Duramold & Williams parted ways, Duramold took the molds and dropped them on Williams back loading dock where they sat until the new owner of the building carted them off to be recycled as scrap aluminum sometime in the early '90s.

ah yes, roto-cast.. Well we can do one better. Instead I can get them done in Vac form and make them just as strong. Its too bad no one wanted to get the molds and save them. I can even have new templates made for the front as well. So I can do a williams cabintet with the logo..

How about a cabinet that has a Midway logo? Nintendo logo? Namco? STERN!!!!! An orange cabinet for a zookeeper! Yes even a red cabinet.. for a satans hollow or a Sinistar too!

Mr Bill is the closest to me.. I am in Oregon.

Molds can be taken from the inside and then formed versions of the cabinet can be made. It would be better done in ABS as they can be painted any color.. Heck even pink for a Hello Kitty cabinet.. Did I really just type that?? Eeeshhh....

It could.. BUT... The thing that would be so cool is that this could be, possibly, shipped via UPS or fedex.. I need to look more into it once i get a cab here. The nice thing about the cabinets being vac formed is that they can be made as strong but lighter.

I will also be talking to a buddy to see if we can use a shipping discount to keep prices low. No, the cabs wont be only $300... But, they will be amazing! Plastic has gone through the roof in prices. In order to get this project underway I would do a 10-20 person low rate buy in. That would cover all the costs to get the project underway and done. Again, need a cab here so I can get the cab cast, then determine plastic needs. Yes, there is a chance that a rotational mold can be made as well to do them identical...

I think it would be much more appealing molded in Bubbles blue or just black that some odd color, then painted. I know I wouldn't want a painted one, not saying I would buy one though.

unless I can find the blue plastic already available, it would be a custom run of plastic and it would cost $4K to get it done and drive the price up. I work with a lot of plastic companies so I might be able to tack on to an order but that is a long shot.
