Are they the same? I know that sticks are different, but is the hole placement the same? I'm looking at picking up The Simpsons and converting it to NBA Jam. Thanks.

Yeah...good point. They just looked similar very similar. Wife gave me the big NO anyway, so it's a moot point now :(

I would never admit to converting a Simpsons cab to NBA Jam lol

It could work though if you drill a third button hole for each NBA Jam Player but the artwork wouldn't fit properly since Konami cab is different than the midway cab.

You would also need to wire a new kick harness for players 3 and 4. The Konami games use a 12 pin harness while I believe just about everything else uses a 10 pin harness. I drilled extra holes into my Sunset Riders cabinet to accomodate a third action button and a start button for all players, and you wouldn't even be able to tell by looking at it that it didn't come that way from the factory.

Simpsons has only 2 buttons and not Start buttos.

Yes, yes it does. However say for example you want to play X-Men on your Simpsons cabinet, you're going to need that third action button, and if you wanna play GI Joe, you will need those start buttons, so I just modified mine to be universal for everything.

Well, after 13 years of marriage and 2 kids, I'm okay with it ;)

As for the cab, a Simpsons machine became available for $150 locally, so I was considering it and the cabs looked like the same shape, but I wasn't sure. I appreciate The Simpsons and certainly respect the longevity of the series, but it's really not "all that" to me. And as far as gameplay is concerned, it's a typical "one and done" common with 90s JAMMA games. So, to label converting it as "blasphemy" is a bit much for me. I poured probably close to $100 into my NBA Jam in our small game room in college, and once it came out on SNES, my friends and I played that for a year. It's got a good nostalgia factor for me. I also figured I could pickup board sets for TMNT and Xmen as well, then swap those around from time to time for my 3 and 4 year olds to button mash. But alas, it's not to be for right now. Thanks for the confirmation that this won't work for me...at least I won't feel like I'm missing out on something.
