Dumb question - Can you connect color vector to B&W?

Ok stupid question of the day but I'm curious, is it possible to hook a color vector game like Tempest or Space Duel to a B&W Battlezone/Asteroids monitor? Obvious you wouldn't get color regardless, but I was wondering if it could be made to work at all?

The reason I even ask is because I've heard of people hooking up color vector games to B&W oscilloscopes for testing.

well you might see enough to verify your x-y output from the board..but won't see everything because of the limitation of b&w.

I am not an expert in X-Y but I would think if you combined the R-G-B on the board you should be able to use a B/W without worries.

Feel free to correct me if I'm wrong.

Why not go the other way and connect a B/W vector to a color x-y monitor?

Yeah, I've seen it done. I've seen it done the other way too, connecting Asteroids to a 6100. With a little hacking into the intensity circuit on the board, you can get the different elements to be different colors.
