Dumb question #12,654

it depends on the joystick. Some of them you pull the actuator and flip it upside down.
Others you cannot do it.

Others you need a different piece altogether.

Any chance you shoot some pictures?

Yeah it'll be a couple hours. I picked up a mk1 and the characters won't flip they just jump straight up and down and move left to right. Hoping it's a simple fix. 2nd player isn't working either.

Worst case scenario, you can always buy some different joysticks and throw then in there as well.

Gotcha.

A lot of times, the only difference between the 8way and 4ways is the actuator - whether it's square, or circular...

If your joystick has metal tabs on the cherry switches (or leaf switches) that get pushed in by the actuator to trigger the switch, then it's possible that they just need to have the tabs (leafs) adjusted so that two are closed at the same time when moving diagonally. Sometimes they get bent to the wrong position and don't close two at the same time...

Hey guys thanks for the help. I ended up flipping the white thing over (actuator?) and it worked. Turned out the block button is the start the button on the 2nd player so now i'm up and running. Just need to clean the buttons a reroute some of them tomorrow. I will be ordering new buttons and joy sticks tomorrow.

For a multi-cade CP, I would recommend the Ultimarc Mag-Stik Plus as they are switchable from the top of the panel for quick and easy swaps from 4-way to 8-way in less than 1 second. We just put two of these in a control panel and the joysticks are a dream to play on.
