A few things.. I got my huge parts order in today.. diode is broken on one of the coils...leg snapped clean off flush with the diode body. Dammit! But it uses same coils as Shuttle, and I had a spare. I'll take that up with PBL, no biggie.

According to the manual the coils used are FL-23-600 / 30-2600. This ain't what's in there. There's two FL-11360/50V coils. Both of them have double diodes....both connect to center lug, one each to outside lug. The CORRECT coils only have the one diode between outer lugs. I'm assuming I'm safe to use these as-is, but just kind of doing a sanity check...System 11 doesn't need the 2nd diode, correct?

Also...the board that has all the 555 lamps on it for the chest grid array...Do I just pull that board and is there anything special about replacing those bulbs? As far as I can tell it's the only place the 555's are used on there, and looks like there's no access to them without pulling that whole PCB.

Got my magnetic nut driver today too, fits all those annoying #4 hex screws perfectly and should make all this a cinch by comparison of previous workings..lol. Getting the screws back in has seriously been my #1 frustration up to this point!

Someone upgraded your flipper coils. If they are working, you can safely use it that way.

The #555 bulbs, if they aren't in a black plastic socket you twist to remove from the board, then you need to remove the board to get at them.

LTG :)

There's black sockets built into the board. I have no clue how they come off. I've tried twisting very gently at one before but couldn't get it off without a level of force I was comfortable with..didn't want to risk damaging that board...

I'll probably just pull the whole thing so I can look at it. :)

If those are stronger coils, they sure as hell don't play like it...flippers need rebuilds bad. Barely makes it up the ramp as-is...I imagine if they had the "right" coils and everything else was in that condition it probably wouldn't! I know these coils that I have on hand (the correct ones) are enough to send the ball flying at a million miles an hour in Shuttle. Going to go ahead and put the right thing in there. :)

Figured it out...they unscrew but one of them did break while I was screwing it back in. >_<
