So it looks like I'll be replacing my DS, and it's time to decide between a DS Lite and a DSi.

I don't really care about the camera, so the question comes down to GBA slot vs DSiWare.

Is there really anything worth getting on DSiWare? I haven't looked in a while. I don't use the GBA slot a lot on my current DS Phat, but I do like keeping an arcade classic in there so I have an option in case I'm on the bus and finish my DS title.

Your thoughts, opinions, random rants?

I just picked up a DSi XL. Only because it was cheap (and I mean really cheap). I think I like the original DSi or the Lite better. I don't know if it's just mine, but the Lite and the original DSi have a brighter screen.

As for between the lite and the DSi. I use my DSi for DS games, because the screen is bigger, I can browse the internet on in a pinch. The carts are "hot swappable" when the system is in the menu you can swap games.

There are a few good DSi titles. But nothing spectacular. I've been waiting on a hand held virtual console, but I don't think that's going to happen.

I think it comes down to if you play advance games any more. I do, but I actually prefer my SP or Micro for them. Since with the SP you can still play original gameboy games.

I'd go with a DSi XL. The big screen is awesome. I like em so much I bought two.

Not really interested in the XL due to it's price, and size. I like the smaller size of the regular DSi/Lite, since I'll be carrying it with me everyday to work.

I don't have a GBA, so the DS is my only way to play GBA games. Not that I play a ton of them, but I also haven't heard about many people actually taking advantage of DSiWare titles. I can't think of a single one I've heard good reviews about off the top of my head.

Right now I'm leaning towards DS Lite... but if someone came up with a list of 10 really good DSiWare games I might rethink that position.

Did anyone ever make and DSi compatible flash carts? If so, you could always download your GBA games to one of those and have the best of all worlds.

I downloaded a few DSi Ware games, but not many. The Mario vs DK 2 was pretty awesome. I think I'd rather have my GBA slot in the long run, though.

Yes, they make flashcarts for DSi. www.gbatemp.net is a great resource for all things DS homebrew. For products, I've had good experience with www.realhotstuff.com (Don't worry, it's not a explicit site. Not sure why he picked that for the site name).

I owned a DSi and ended up selling it because I wasn't using it much at the time. The cameras did nothing for me. DSi Ware is a waste of a potentially good feature. Why they didn't allow for downloading console games is beyond me. I guess they wanted to keep that with the Wii. Still, there is maybe 1 or 2 games I'd consider downloading. The rest is garbage. I still have my DS Lite but haven't played it in months since playing Spirit Tracks. The new Final Fantasy: 4 Light Warriors game seems cool though.

I'm saving my time and money for when the 3DS comes out. :)

If you connect the DSi to the 'net, and use flash cards, there are firmware updates occasionally for the DSi like for the Wii that will break the flash cards. You'll then have to wait when/if an update for your flashcard is available to get it working again.

I do like the bigger screen in the DSi, but I'd stick with a DS Lite for now since they're a good price. DSi is overpriced IMHO, and the cameras are useless.
