Wow, I just realized that its May already and not only have I not bought anything arcade related this year, Ive only turned my games on twice in 2010. Crazy.

Life has been busy with the kids, and work and whatnot, but admittedly its been kind of a nice break. I found myself on KLOV way too much (which was interfering with work), found myself checking CL like a maniac (which was interfering with life), and found myself frustrated with this hobby when I couldn't find games I was looking for. This little break from the games has been refreshing, and with the batteries getting recharged, I'm ready for a good 2nd half of the year.

See? I didn't get rid of all my stuff, still hung around here, and still participated. There is no reason to drop everything and get out of this hobby when you hit little bumps in the road.

Carry on.

Naw, not even that.

I'm actually starting to get excited about the games again. When the hobby stopped being fun, I took a little step back. The break has been nice, and the games are still there when I'm ready for em again.

Surely Im not the only one who has done this.

I agree with everything you said. I really did take a bit of a time out for a few months with college preparations and such. But, I sure plan to make it one crazy summer!

Like the tides, there is high tide, low tide, then high tide again. I agree.

yeah, i've been kinda not playing much with school and work and life all taking a step in front. but i'm getting ready for some game playing this summer. and hopefully squeezing another game or two in the house.....

Yeah, taking a break is always nice.

I thought that after our baby was born, it would be frustrating not being able to work on projects and such. Though, setting my priorities right and taking a step back has also been refreshing for me. I dabble a little here and there, but I only play my games a little and I've already stopped looking on CL. So it's been a good balance.

Like you said, it's a fun hobby as long as you don't get so much into it that you get frustrated and tired. I'm glad that you're at full strength to dive back into things. :)

No sir, you are not. It is always nice to reflect and recharge when it becomes too consuming and interfering with more important stuff.

I know what you mean when it is affecting work. Just had that realization recently and now a proper balance is the key. Anyway, got to get back to work. My program is nearing completion and I need to set up me test environment.

January 2010 was crazy for me... Traded one for two and bought one five ours away. Moved the game room around... Played them like crazy through February... But haven't played or worked on them much since then. Yes, kind of a nice break to recharge my motivation.

See you at CAX!

I have only worked on the games a little this year. When I think of something to try, I go try it. If it fixes it, great, if not, it will have to wait until I have enough time to actually work on it. Lately, I have just been going out to the garage when I need a homework break. A little Tempest or Metal Slug refreshes me a bit for the next way too many hours of homework.

I do exactly the same thing man...with many different hobbies and things. I'll get way into it for a few months, then step away for 6 months or so, then dive back in. I do it with arcade collecting, PC games, house projects, etc...
