The ones in my Shuttle are faded. VERY faded. I imagne at some point they were a nice vibrant red, but now they're a decimated sickly pink-ish color and the decals are pretty much obilterated.

I have replacement decals. Fantastic. These drop targets work beautifully. I've never had ANY problem with them the three and a half months I've owned the game. I'm frankly very afraid of messing with them and giving myself another headache to deal with.

Questions are....is here anything I can do to improve their appearance of the actual plastic? Nobody sells repro drop targets for this machine that I can tell. :(

How touchy are these things when it comes to alignments and adjustment? Is there some room for error, or is it another pinball nazi-type deal... THEY MUST BE THIS WAY, WITH THE SCREWS TIGHTENED TO XYZ TORQUE OR IT WILL...NOT...FUNCTION!!

Am I just being paranoid and should just get in there and start removing stuff? :p

Not much you can do beyond the usual Novus clean up. But the kicker there is you'll need to remove the targets to really clean them up...so you may as well go the replacement/sticker route if they are that bad.

Like everything else under your playfield, it seems daunting until you do the first one. They aren't that tricky, you'll probably need to remove the switch plate, a spring, some sort of compression clip, and slide the pin out that holds the DT in place. Reverse the process and you are good to go.

You know you are going to do it sometime...I'd suggest this weekend. Good luck.

I don't have weekends. :( I'm working 60 hour weeks right now, and I have kids. I have about 2-3 hours a night, if I'm lucky. Trying to pay off my credit cards so that I can save up for something like a LOTR or a NIB pin. :|

There's nothing to replace them with..nobody seems to make the right type. I've got the replacement New New Licenced Stock decals which look great..just need to pull these beat to hell drop targets out and clean them and stick em on..

I swear..tiny springs are like the bane of my existance. I have fairly large hands (like I was the only one that liked the original XBOX controller?) and any time I ahve to deal with tiny objects that tend to get lost easily it's a disaster. Watching me try to fix my wife's captured ball earrings must be HILARIOUS.

I cleaned up the targets in my Pinbot a few weeks ago. I took pics of each step with my wifes iPad each step of the way as a reference. I was more afraid of getting interrupted and coming back 2 days later and forgetting how they went together more than anything.

It wasn't too bad and they function great now.

I usually use my iphone to take the pictures but yeah...sometimes I just look at it and STILL go "OH crap, is that right?"

I was very very nervous switching on the machine after replacing that flipper coil. In fact, I know for SURE that I had it soldered backwards the first time on the table and had to fix it.

Here are pics. Excuse the angles and crap quality. These were just a temp reference for me.

Why couldn't you paint them?

Been thinking about it, actually.

Kind of comes down to that whole "immesurable risk" thing again...

I haven't found any place to buy new ones, so if I screw them up in any way....I'm screwed. They're going to look awfully out of place when I get the repro playfield in... :|

Mine felt kind of porous when I had them apart. How about just doing the edges with a marker/paint pen and replacing the decals?

The pinkish hue of the ones on my Pinbot doesn't really bother me. 90% of them is covered by the decal.
