I bought a pair of drive in movie speakers on ebay about 6 months ago and finally got around to mounting them in my arcade.

They are quite old, but the internal speakers are newer, which is a plus because they work well.

I simply hung them from the crossbars on 2 poles on opposite ends of my arcade, ran the wires behind the poles and secured them, wire-tied extra long pieces of wire to each speaker then ran that wire behind the games and to a home-theater/dvd player that I hid in my storage space.

They don't have the greatest sound, but they do the job, and they have the look I wanted. Now I can play music or whatever else I want thru them for my parties.

I also finished up the upper half of the backdrop(flyers) for my emergency line booth; just click the photobucket link in my signature for more pics of that.....

If I were a guest in your arcade, I'd make sure to request Oingo Boingo :)

Dude! I love your style. Those power line poles are AWESOME. Really cool shit, very creative! And, yeah, those speakers rock!

I would gladly play them; and "Words" by Missing Persons, too; because people have forgotten....lol

And after that you can play "Strange Highways" by Ronnie James Dio. In fact, that should be your theme song. Love the speakers. Very very cool.

Right on! I'm sticking with "Headin' Out to the Highway" by Judas Priest, though. The basics of my mural(look at my avatar) were taken from that video....

thanks for the comments....

Awesome, man!

You can also run the arcade ambiance tracks if you get tired of music. ;)

Johnny-boy, you've outdone yourself. I've been wanting to do something like this for years. You're living the dream.

Phetty, every time you post I get cramps in my cheeks from smiling/laughing. Hey that didn't sound quite right, forget I said that....

I just checked for the seller on ebay that I bought these speakers from(jaybird8100), and he currently has nothing listed on ebay. About 6 months ago he had a TON of speakers for sale, all tested and working. Most had reasonable buy it now prices of around $15-$18 each. I wish I would've bought more from him. He even sent some paperwork on the history of the drive-in speaker and how to wire them up in various ways, including if you wanted to start your own drive in movie theater....

that just flat out rocks, john. every time you post a new pic of your game room, it just gets better.

Thanks, man. Next I gotta get crackin' on the header for the emergency line booth. That is going to finish it off nicely; and I'll add a creepy effect to boot. Stay tuned.....

Gorfchampion,I got to give it to ya, you got a creative and unique style and always enjoy what you add to your Gameroom! Great job!

The creativity of John's arcade is simply unparalled! I always look forward to the next 'upgrade' to come out of his brain!

Judas Priest...I have not watched that video in years! Point Of Entry...

Great stuff...

Love those drive in speakers.... but personally I would put them on short poles/stands down lower like they were at the movies, maybe down next to the power poles. I think they detract from your power pole look too much mounted up there. (my opinion of course)

Thanks Alan! I hope to show it to you in person someday....

Right on. I see what you're saying. But I'm not trying to portray them as any part of a drive in movie theater at this point. I merely like the "old" look of them, they go well with the poles. I appreciate your opinion.....
