Drill holes on control panel. How would you fix this? (pic)

Restoring a Crystal Castles for a friend. Someone had turned this into a 60-in-1 and (among other things) removed the trackball and mounted in a joystick, drilling 4 new holes into the control panel.

Any cool tips on filling those drill holes? I got some little automotive filler-type specialty plugs from Lowes but the trackball assembly actually blocks about half of the opening. Wondering if there's some trick-of-the-trade I'm not thinking of.

The guy probably wouldn't care if I left it like that but it's going on site and I don't want some kid sticking their gum in there or getting their sweater hung on some metal shard or something. It's going to see some action.

Thanks for any advice anyone might have. The best I can come up with is 4 round vinyl stickers. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Dowel rod cut down to length and glued in, sanded down, with a bit of wood filler if necessary. Then a new CP.

But if it is going on location as is after a repair then just plug it with the dowel and call it a day with some glue and light sanding.

Yep, metal cpo. and I'm not super into the idea of putting on a new overlay since this is a freebie.

Booooooo.... Tack weld some blanks onto the back and fill the recess with bondo or JB weld. Lol

Just get some small metal blanks and JB Weld them to the back side. (You could even use pennies in a pinch, or even small pieces of thin cardboard, e.g., from a mac + cheese box.) Then you can fill in the front with a tiny amount of epoxy in each hole, to make it level if you want. Then paint them with hobby paint or paint pen, to hide them somewhat. No need to bust out the welder.

to be honest if your not changing the overlay i would use a Button Plug.

I designed my own hole covers for 3D printing

and

worked great on a dynamo cabinet I just did.
They attach from the back and are as thick as the thickness of the metal, so they are flush with the top of the control panel. like the commercial covers, but no nasty bump.

the control panel from the picture below initially had like 18 holes (8 for each player as well as p1 and p2 start)
