Storage Auctions Dragons's Lair - Reno, NV

That thing was a mess on the outside, but MAN it's beautiful on the inside.
I wonder if the LD-V1000 still works?

You will need to change the EPROM set. You have Rev-D which was the switch over from PR-7820 to LD-V1000.
The problem is that they changed the Real-Time-Clock hardware, but kept the old programmed timings for the earlier board.
The end result is that the video for all of the rooms either run too long, or get cut short (I can't remember which).

Anyway, Great Score! Now what are you going to do with all of that other junk?
The 1000 is dead. Opens to remove the disc but nothing else. The game boots to 00 on the credit LEDs. The monitor works fine, I fed it from an 8000 and the disc played fine.

Awesome.

Resist the urge to "restore" it by slapping reproduction artwork all over it. Something that original should be left alone.
Other than the worn CPO everything else is about as good as it gets, I won't be changing a thing. Thanks!

Sounds like the dead V1000 is the only issue.
You already have a V8000, so the only question is, Do you have a Merlin-8000, or a Dexter to get this thing going?

Very nice, congrats on the find. Dragon's Lair is simply 'magical'.

Can you please measure from the top of the game to the highest point of the sideart on each side in inches? How far does it come down from the top?

Also, for the front glass over the monitor. Is it glass or Plexi? Tinted or not? From the pic, it looks non tinted masked off from the sides just up to the shroud?

These are just a couple things I've always wondered about how a Dragon's Lair came straight from the factory, might be a good example to confirm.

Thanks!

You paid $270 for this!!!
That picture is beautiful. Like a brand new LD-V1000 back in 1983. A Museum piece.

I still want you to get rid of that 'D' ROM set. Change it to F2. Maybe do the FF fix on that scoreboard.
:)

There is no "set" factory side art height.
The side art was placed at the whim of the teenager who was installing it that day.
Personally, the art on this cabinet looks a little low for my liking. Your opinion may vary.

The "glass" is smoke tinted plexi.

This is good to here Shaun and carries a lot of weight coming from you, thanks.

The art on mine is higher up and I do like it this way, just lower is what I remember (sounds like it's just what's in memory). Totally makes sense that it just depended on who was working that day because I've seen some original's at all different heights through the years.

It has smoked tinted plexi, it's on the darker side so would love to know the exact plexi type, or shade # of tint as I'm pretty sure that's been replaced.

Have a beautiful 20" PVM on top as a spectator monitor and it just looks so perfect because there's no plexi over it lol.

Wow. Great deal and so cool that it had everything intact. Even the LD player and the disc! Congrats!

You may want to change out that back filter though. LOL
