HELP, I have a dragons lair and I was able to find a conversion to space ace but it did not come the the wire harness that converts the dragon lair control panel to the space ace control panel. Does anyone have one of these or can some one send me pics of both sides of the connections so I can make one.

I don't have one of the conversion harnesses but someday plain on building a Space Ace so I have saved some info on what is needed. I believe the conversion kit came with a short extension harness with 36 pin Molex plugs in each end. This would go between the Dragons Lair main board and the original wiring harness. This would have 3 wires coming off it with a 3 pin Molex plug that would plug into the annunciator board. Then their is another harness with a 9 pin Molex plug that plugs into the annunciator board and goes to the Skill level select buttons. Their is also a ribbon cable so you can plug the annunciator board between the main PC board and the score board. I think that's all. If you don't have the 36 pin pigtail harness you can add 3 pins in the original 36 pin Molex in the game harness. Here is the info I saved which I think I found on the Dragons lair project.

If you cant find one you can just add the 3 pins into the original 36 pin housing. They are .063 pins, just put 3 pins on 3 wires and push into the 36 pin connector at pin 17,21 & 25 and run them to the 3 pin plug on the annunciator board . I found this info on the Dragon's Lair Projects Archives

On A DL/SA conversion harness, The connections
for the Skill Level Buttons go to a 3 pin
connector which connects from pins 17,21,& 25
on the 36 pin molex plug on the harness to the
SA annunciator board. There is another small set of
wires going from the 9 pin connection on the conversion
annunciator board to the Skill level select buttons. The
scoreboard ribbon cable also goes from the main pcb to
the annunciator board and then an additional ribbon
cable connects from the annunciator board too the led
scoreboard. On a dedicated Space Ace Wiring harness,
the control panel connector has 12 pins instead of the
typical 9 pin connector. Hope this helps.

If you're not worried about being able to change the difficulty level, you really don't need the harness and annunciator board. When you start the game, it will default to Cadet.

Sam, I put my SA/DL together years ago and your info looks correct. Making the adaptor cables is pretty straight forward and the parts are all available from Bob Roberts. The ribbon cable is a little harder, but still doable.
