Very happy to FINALLY finish my Dragon's Lair restoration.
I got this game about 6 or 7 years ago as part of a trade. I'm not big into laserdisc games but being that DL is such an iconic LD game... I decided to take this one on.

When I got the game - it was a mess... The wiring inside was a mess and the bottom of the cabinet was majorly swollen from severe water damage. The game had been converted to Space Ace. There was no laserdisc player or disc.

I completely cut the bottom half of the cabinet off and rebuilt it. Then I stripped all the vinyl off the sides. I did the bondo work on the join and then primed the entire cabinet.

I then applied the new textured vinyl to both sides and laid the sideart over the top.
I applied a new CPO to an extra control panel I had and then started to piece the game back together.

I then turned my attention to the inside of the game. Somewhere during the restoration process... I was at a guys house buying a game or something when he pointed out that he had an old LD player. Turns out it was out of a DL game (LD player did not work) and there was still a DL disc inside it. He just gave me the whole machine because he was about to throw it out. I then installed new DL ROMS. I also had purchased a Lasercon board from the DLP website and I installed that on my original pcb. I eventually found a few LD players that I purchased and when they arrived neither of them worked (one even was damaged in shipping). I was at another collectors house one day grabbing some parts I purchased from him and he told me he had a working LD player. I bought it on the spot and brought it home. I was getting closer.
I then had a problem with my monitor interface board which I was eventually able to fix. My buddy Chris then rebuilt that and the burn free GO7 in the game. Before doing that I snapped these pics.

That is some gorgeous $h1t right there.

I've got a few finishing touches left, but I'm considering a local trade of my Paperboy for a DL.

Photo bucket killed the images so I can't see them. I just got a DL cab that was converted and am looking to learn all I can about the cabinet. Can you sent a link to those photos?

Thanks

Yeah. I'm curious to see how this thing came out. I just got one myself. Always like too see how people worked on their projects.

You have a link to the pics?
