Just as I was starting to get good at this thing the monitor has gone dark. Game plays blind and was working completely for the past few months. Its a 19inch G07. I checked the voltage going in to the monitor and its 120AC. Theres no neck glow at all.

Not sure what else I can start checking to see what the issue might be or whether or not its within my capabilities to fix. Any suggestions on how to determine what the problem is or where to start?

Thanks.

There is a lot of material to help you out here for that model. It's one of the easier ones to work on. Just do a search in this forum for threads about the g07 and you'll have more reading than you ever wanted.

If you can't get it fixed, there are plenty of us here that could fix it for you.

Edit: To start with, check your b+ on the chassis.

the good news with a dragons lair is that you can connect the video signal to a TV. So you can either temporarily use a TV to play the game or simply replace the original monitor with a stripped out TV.

Start by testing fuse F901 on the GO7 chassis, it sits just to the right of the huge gray cap and is kind of hard to see. Then test F902.

Thanks for the replies. I pulled the board out and the fuse at F901 is bad. Ill try to replace that and see if it comes back to life.

It might, but something down the line caused the fuse to blow. Save yourself some time and check the other parts as well.

Heres an update.

I installed the G07 kit from BR including the flyback, fuses, and HOT.
Still no results. No neck glow.
I checked the B+ and it's is right around 120VDC.
Pulled the chasis again.
I checked R908 and its just above 47K.
I checked the HOT and its reading 0.032 which seems low from what I read.

Any other pointers. Im interested in trying a few more things before I send it out. Ive learned quite a bit already.

Thanks.

Im just about to throw in the towel on this.

Turns out I was checking the HOT wrong. Looks like it is just fine.
Pulled the chasis again and checked the connections on the new flyback. Re-soldered one of the contacts that seemed suspect.
Put it back in the machine and nothing still. Doesn't seem like it is even getting any power at all.
Checked B+ again and its zero.
Checked the AC coming in and its 120.
Checked the fuses again and they seem fine.

Its been a good learning experience and Ive found a lot of good resources. Just cant seem to make total sense of it to track down what the problems are or not do more damage.

Test the big white resistor that connects to the regulator and the smaller one directly below it to verify that neither of them is open.

Thanks Dokert, Ill check that out after the holiday.

Turns out I had a G07 chasis that Ive had for about 15 years in the basement. Cleaned it up and dropped it in and it works. Colors aren't so good but a cap kit will fix that. At least I got my Dragons Lair fix. How I got the monitor chasis is a long long story.
