Hey guys, fired up my Dragon's Lair II the other night and it doesn't seem to want to boot.

Game comes up with just the title screen paused, nothing else. None of the normal startup beeps, etc.

Player is fine. if you boot the game without the rs-232 cable attached it will spin up and play the disc straight through without error. Obviously it can seek OK as the title screen is not the first frame on the disc.

PCB issue? Seems like everything is getting correct voltages. The 2xRed/1xGreen LED on the PCB is solid and not blinking. The other LEDs are not coming on.

Ideas??

Thanks!

watchdog is not working, so most likely clock problem, you need to pull the board and bring to me so we can look @ it with a probe or scope..

Just posting this here in case some poor sap finds themselves in the same situation.

If the Dragon's Lair II arcade PCB cannot talk to the Laserdisc player it will bomb out and freeze at the title screen. This will cause the 3 solid lights, etc.

If you have the Sony player in your Dragon's Lair II, check the Baud rate dip switch bank. It's supposed to be Down / Down / Down / Up.

Even if your dip switches are correct.. try flipping them all on and off and then back into the correct pattern. It may just solve your problem. :)

Special thanks to Hamster for his initial help, this turned out to be a weird problem that couldn't be corrected having only the PCB as it would just do the same thing without the Laserdisc player attached.
