This CL score took place back in May. There was a post for a tag sale in Springfield, Ma. In that post they mentioned that they had arcade games. I responded to the post asking what the games were called.

Well I heard nothing for about a week and a half. I then got a reply to my email. At first I thought the tag sale was over but then realized that it was going to take place in the upcoming weekend. The seller said that they had 3 games. Two were Neo Geo's. One worked and one didn't. The third game the seller said was Dragon's Lair II which the seller said also did not work. I wasn't really interested in the Neo Geo's but like anyone would be I was interested in the Dragon's Lair II.

So I asked what he wanted for the games. He said they came out of a youth center and wanted $100 for the non working Neo Geo and $200 for the working one. He then said he wanted $100 for the non working Dragon's Lair II. I'm thinking HOLY SHIT $100!!! I told him I was 2 hours away and would he hold it for me and I'll come out first thing the day of the tag sale to get it. Lucky for me he said he would. So I headed out the morning of the sale and picked it up paid the guy thanked him and got out of there! I put it in my climate controlled storage unit and basically forgot about it.

Fast forward to Tuesday where I pulled it out into the hallway of my climate controlled storage unit. I was actually going to trade it to another KLOV member with the understanding that it didn't work. I was about to load it into the van when I realized that I actually never plugged it in. Since I have power there I decided to plug it in to see what if anything would happen. I could not believe it when I turned it on and it fired right up. I'm like HOLY CRAP it WORKS! I coined it up and it plays perfectly. No skipping or anything.

Needless to say I couldn't make the trade since it actually works. The fellow KLOV member understood and was happy for me.

I still don't understand why they said it didn't work. I'm not complaining. $100 for a working Dragon's Lair II is fine by me! :)

Really cool. I got to play one on location back when I worked for an operator in the early 1990's. Leland brought a prototype to one of our locations and left it there for a few days. It had an escort. I did get to peek inside - it looked like a proto - wires all over and had a 3.5" floppy. I have a Spanish LD version as well as an English LD. It makes me laugh hearing it in Spanish. What a score. :)

you were the guy. I rolled in to the church tag sale at 8:30 since they said it started at 9 and it was already tagged as sold. damn you!

Frizz the guy is on a roll. He got 2 Space Wars for a song, A Dragon's Lair II for a hundo and a Ms P for $25.

Sorry about that Quin. :)

That's funny because he told me to be there at 9:00am. As I'm driving out I thought it odd that a tag sale would start that late. Of course I then started getting nervous hoping that nothing was going to mess it up. I figured once people saw it it wouldn't last long.

Of course I get there and it's a mob scene of people and cars everywhere. I'm thinking I'M SCREWED! I start walking around and see the three cabinets in the back left of the parking lot. As I walk up I see three SOLD signs on the games. I approach the guy all nervous and introduce myself and said SOLD? He said it's yours. I just put a sold sign on it so people would know it's no longer for sale.

You weren't the guy who offered $300 were you? He told me that someone just offered him $300 right before I got there but since he knew I was driving 2 hours to get it he held it for me. Man was I lucky!

Were you the guy who grabbed those Neo Geo's? Those were a good deal too although they weren't in all that great of condition.

No there was 1 Neo still for sale when I got there, but I decided to pass. I wanted the DL II. I may need to close the NY/MA border for a bit so I can try to catch a deal or two.

Don't do that! :) You guys got all the deals out your way. It's dry as hell in our area. Although that Ms Pac cocktail for $250 was a great local score!

NICE SCORE!

You do need to get some sword buttons though. :)

Nice score. Maybe they didn't understand how to play the game. I guess if they were used to a normal game and then grabbed the joystick of the DL2 and when Dirk didn't move immediately the way they wanted, they thought it was broken. lol Good for you, though!
