Dragon's Lair Cab in the house. Help needed

A regular Dragons lair disk will work with lasercon and any of those players listed. The auction you linked is a reproduction limited edition disk.

Regular Dragons lair disks are on ebay all the time, they usually sell for $100-$150.

Dragons lair parts are not cheap, a regular Disk is all you need :)

Thanks Dan

Nice, learning slowly . . .

Ha, my son's mates all call me Dirk (His dutch mate started it) DIRK = Derrick LOL

No problem. Dragons Lair is one of my favotire machines. I just got everything set up with mine 2 days ago. Installed the Lasercon, Multi rom board amd ordered extension cables so I could put the laser player on to of the machine. Now I can change between Dragons Lair and Space Ace without having to get in the back of the machine to switch disks. Im going to post pics soon.

I have been collecting DL parts for a few years. Finally im there.

I will have to have a good look at this cab, and decide if I would prefer to import a working US one, or fix up this LAI one.

Compared to the original, our LAI machines aren't as nice

I have another machine that will be for sale soon:eek:

If I did that, it would be far into the future I think. (Temped for at least 5 minutes) Time was directly Proportional to the distance you are from the port in socal LOL

After I finish some major projects I might go looking for a US one.

If my one turns out OK, I may be content. Who knows

Update:

I have a Pioneer LD-V4300D player. I picked it up while on holidays and just sent it to myself. I will get there before it does.

I have an unhacked harness and the PCB upper and lower boards.

So I have 2 questions
1. Do I still need a lasercon?
2. How do I organize the multi-roms. Is it just a matter of burning them using a ROM image?

Thanks Guys :)

Yes you need a lasercon, LaserAce or the other one, forgot the name but the Lasercon is the only one still made as far as I know.
Shaun also sells the Dragons Lair MultiRom board
Shaun Wood can get you going
Here ya go

thank you :)

his site says he is out of stock of the multirom is out of stock temporarily, so I will email and ask the question

Cheers

You dont need the multi rom unless you want to play dragons lair and space ace, But you just do need the lasercon to interface with that Pioneer LD player..

Yea the multiRom board is only needed if you want to play Space Ace in the same cabinet but you will also need a Space Ace disc and you have to manually swap the disc's in the player. I wish Shaun or someone would make a multirom board that would also automatically switch between two laser disc players so you don't have to swap the disc's. Yea I am lazy.

I just heard a rumor from Oztron that work is presently being done to replace the laser disc drive with a PCB.
(So no more discs)
I know not a lot more than that at present

That would be cool.. I have the multi rom. I got extension cables and put the laser player on top of the machine, so its easy to swap disks...

As for the MultiRom board (which gives you all versions of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace), you could go with this method instead - uses some 128k EPROMS and gives you a version of both DL and SA (still have to swap discs though). http://www.dragons-lair-project.com/tech/docs/dlsa_combo.asp

Amazing! There is so much more going on with these laser games than I knew

Cheers, great links guys. I had almost given up on ever having a DL cab.

A few more parts to go. Still a way to go, but feeling great about it at the moment :)
