Hi Guys

Picked up a project today. I love Dragon's lair, and had given up just about. But today I got one in exchange for my electrical services.

It is almost complete. It needs the PCB at the least
Can someone tell me what the little daughter board is in the pic please :) Not my PCB ! I have no PCB

I am in the market for a PCB by the way. Good to know art is available, so I will get me some in due course.

Anyone else got a DL? What are the pitfalls / good points / bad points. This one has a laser player, but not sure if it's the latest one of original or even working . .

Thanks Guys

Post a pic of the Laser Disk player and we'll tell you if it is the original.

If it is a U.S. machine, the original player is an LDV-1000 but if it came from outside the U.S. it is probably an LDV-1001.

Of course, it was probably changed out at some point as the originals didn't last long in a commercial environment.

Tons more info here ...

Good luck with yours! Great game. I wouldn't part with mine!

Thank you :)

I just unloaded the remaining gear from my van, and it seems the front plate is missing off the laser disk player. - The whole front. D'oh

I need to read a bit more I think

is the daughter board a LASER ACE?? so you can use any disc player... not sure though

any thing you need to know about DL ask klov member KLYE DRACUP. hes knows alot about these machines

I'm confused.... is that picture of the PCB from YOUR cabinet or from the internet somewhere?

I'm not sure what that daughter card in the picture is for. That was not part of the original hardware. Maybe some kind of mod to make the game 25 cents?? That's just a guess.

No,... that daughter card is NOT a laserace.

My game has no PCB, and the laser disc player appears broken (Front missing)

The pic above was from crazykong.com, and was there to ask a question.

I will need PCB, Laser disc player, artwork and Laser Disc to get this going. I might be able to fix the wiring harness, which is hacked

I think this machine is an Aussie version / european maybe, as the control panel is different

You need the multi rom board and the lasercon. Then you can use any ldv pioneer player. Much more easy to find on craigslist or on the bay. Shaun Wood made them and is very helpful on getting it into your game. With the multi rom board you will be able to play Dragon's Lair or Space Ace. You don't have to buy the multi rom board but it will make your game a little more dependable. He has a web sight you can go to just google the info. Also your best friend right now will be all the info found in the archives on the Dragon's lair project sight. Or just ask Jeff kinder :). He can help a bunch. Good luck! Let me know if I can be of any help. And that board " I think is for the amount of coins you can stick into the game. But I'm not sure:). Good luck!

Thank you :)

All this is helpful. I am glad I asked before buying parts to get the right parts first time :)

This is the way to go. Just put the multi rom board and lasercon with a Pioneer LD-V8000 in mine. Only way to go!! I orfered some extension cables that came yesterday so I can put the Laser player on top of the machine. That way I can switch the Dragons Lair and Space Ace disks with ease. I will take pics soon!!

Anyone got a spare wiring harness, the dude I bought from tried to convert the game :(

I have a chance of getting a Pioneer CLD-S270 for $85.00

The ad reads
Pioneer Laser Disc player in excellent condition and working order, owned since new. With remote control and operating instruction booklets this player plays double sided laser discs, CDV & CD's.

Is this a good player?

:)

Thanks mate
I will keep looking local, freight from US is too high for these I think

You can find what you are looking for it will just take time. It's taken me years of looking to find all of the parts I have for my DL. Labor of love is what having a Dragon's Lair game is all about. If you do it all at once you will go broke. :). I had to buy and fix and trade a bunch of arcade games and pinball games just to find the two cabs I have. That is why I said to buy the lasercon card and multi rom board. Looks like a bunch but in the end it will save you money and time. Good luck!

The lasercon card is definately the way to go. Sean is the guy for those and He's awesome. He helped me get mine going and even fixed my board with a switch for arcade mode or enhanced rom playback. Played it a few times tonight and still am seeing scenes i've never seen.(i suck at it) but i refuse to watch a playthrough as it keeps me excited to try and figure out what to do the old fashioned way of trial and error. Good luck.
