Dragon's Lair 866 found! Well It was a DL :)

Started on the CP

I used the Double Dribble panel. It was the worst off. Filled all of the holes. Then Sanded the heck out of the CP. This is what I got. I will do the CP overlay in a few hours.

CP and the right side of the game :)

Had some time last night.....ya right...lol Sooo I did the CP. The next day I did the right side of the cab. Now it has No vinyl. Does anyone ever prep the wood before they re-apply new Vinyl? And if you have what do you use? Just thought I would ask. Thanks for looking :)

The front!!

Now it was time to do the front. I have found the only way to make it look good is to take the old front out. This is a pain in the ass! If the vinyl was in good shape I would just leave it, but I'm doing the sides so I will do the front. I took the front out and used the front out of the Robo cop game. I was lucky to have an extra part :) I also painted the sides where the T-molding goes. I have found if you do this your T-molding stays in place and you don't have to look at any wood next to the t-molding. It just makes it look nice. Now that the front is finished it's time for the sides. How about that coin door :) I think it's going to look nice :)

Vinyl

I bought it from a guy with the last name of Ryan. I won his listing on E-bay. He also sold me a piece of Dragon's Lair side art. I don't think I can use it. The protective film is leaving the adhesive on the art work :(.... Not sure if it can be fixed. I was going to get a marquee overlay, but he had spilled something on it. So to make up for it he sent me the Vinyl. Worked out ok! Not sure if he bought it from Happ or from Quarter arcade. If it's from Happ it's the Buffalo vinyl if it's from Quarter arcade it's the Morocco. I'm thinking it's the Morocco from Quarter arcade. I did one side of my cab and it looks very nice. I went to do the next side and I'm about two feet short...lol I had re-done the front of my Dragon's Lair 2 cab about a year ago. I have a dragon's lair two in a Dragon's Lair one cab :) SOOOO now I have to order Vinyl for one side... Easy come easy go..lol Now the game will have to be on hold unless I sell something on E-bay. That will give me time to start work on the inside of the cab :)

It's x 50 inces

It's x 50 inches :) it's from Quarter arcade. Man $7.25 times 7. Crap !!! LOL Now I know Ryan gave me a good deal.

Vinyl and T-molding and Leg Levelers

I got the Vinyl in from quarter arcade. Looks good! The T-molding came in from T-molding.com. And oooohhhh yes the Leg Levelers from Bob Roberts. I had a little help with the Tmolding. LOL Now it's time to start work on the inside!

Man... where are you finding all these parts. lol I had to ghetto rig everything in to mine. Taped in wrong bezel and fake smoked plexi supported by screws (the holes were already there, don't yell at me). lol Still need to find a suitable AC outlet for the inside to get the machine back down to 1 plug.

But, whatever... you're machine is looking great. Hopefully I'll get the money for the vinyl here soon... and grow a pair of balls big enough to let me actually APPLY the marquee art to the plexi instead of just having it sit in there.

Parts

Well if you watch E-bay and the Dragon's lair project and want adds and you wait for about 6 years the parts are very easy to come by. LOL Ohhh and yes let us not forget you have to find 2 DL arcade cabs with a bunch of parts left in them :) Then it's no problem. Hell I still have to buy the side art. That will be arround a 100.00 bucks. One thing at a time. My tron quit working so now I have to fix it!!! CRAP! I love my games :) I just hope my score board will work! If not I will have to find one.

Ok, it's been some time! Ha. Started checking out my parts. Going to get back to work on the Dragon's Lair game. Will try this board that I have. Think it's a Rev C board. Have had S Woods laser Con card for some time. And was having hell with the rom card I have so bought one if his multi rom cards. So stacked them a few nights ago. Have most of the harness in the cab now. Power supply, fan, but was missing a pot for the sound. But I did get some more parts in a trade from Frank B from Mo. And it has the pots I needed so rock on. I have a LD-V4400 that I got off an add in Denver off of Craigslist and I'm hoping I'll be able to get it to work. Still no side art so it will have to wait. But in the next few days will see if I can bring it back to life. Man do I have some parts now. Have even picked up a few DL discs. Would be killer to find one of the limited LD discs, but they are way pricy. This is the stack before I stick it in.

Well it's done! I finally finished my Dragon's Lair game. Was having a little trouble which just turned out to be a pin in the wire Harness. Had a little help from The amazing Mr. Wood and was able to get the game working 100%. I went with the lasercon Merlin board so now it plays Dragon's Lair and Space Ace. Thanks goes out to Shaun Wood. Thanks for the help and thanks for making all those laser disc boards. So this is the videos of the Dragon's Lair Working.

so do you just swap out the DL disc for space ace when you want to play it? Is that all thats required or do you have to do any set up to swap it out?

Ya it's super easy. Trade out the discs then when you power up the game it will give you an option of what version you want to play. It's cool because it shows it on the screen or on the scoreboard. It's real slick. Shaun Wood did a killer job on it. And you don't have to choose each time it remembers the last choice you picked so it will go right to playing the game. And he is always very helpful and always answers his E-mails. He is about as cool as they come. Best customer service I have ever had as far as game equipment goes. And it all works with the original PCB.

Something seems wrong there. After the first beep when the game fires up, it loops back to say "Dragon's Lair..." attract mode thing and yours is silent. It should just go right into full attract mode after that first beep. Also, your first screen should be the drawbridge, not the ropes screen. Congrats on getting it up and running. It has been my absolute best favorite part of collecting games. THere's nothing like Dragon's Lair or Space Ace. LOVE IT!!

Ya it does it for a short time. Then it does it every 8th time. I have it set that way. If it plays every time it starts to get anoying. As for the drawbridge scene that is only played on games that are European I believe. Don't think that was released in the USA. I have played that on computer games or Daphnie. Yep it plays the attract mode every 8th time.

My disc plays the drawbridge scene and it's NTSC. Hmmm. I don't think I have an unusual disc.

I thought (might be wrong) I read somewhere that the bridge scene was on the discs but wasnt in certain versions of the ROMS to play it...I think depending on what version of the ROMS you have selected is what you get to see play out in the game.

Is that not correct?
