Found a Dragon's Lair that was converted to a Robo Cop. Now what to do. I also found a Double dribble that was once a Dragon's Lair cab. It's number is 5504. It is in a little better shape. Do I save the 866 or the 5504?

Lol

The thing is I can rob parts, but how can I not save the two of them? They are Dragon's Lair Cabs. Crap! I may have to send it :). LOL 20 years I have waited to build this game and now I have two. What the hell.

The Double Dribble one is gonna need new wood cut at the top for the marquee section since it was cut flat. The Robocop one also still has a center mounted joystick. I would say "less" work with the Robocop, but either one is still a lot of work.

Thanks for the help! He He

Yes I can see that you guys will be of no help. LOL :)

Not trying to discourage you at all, hell, look at my signature. I have over 10 projects that started out as mostly gutted/converted cabs. If I was picking one, Robocop for sure. Besides, it needs to get put out of it's misery immediately because of the god forsaken art project someone made out of it....

RoboCOP PLEXI

RoboCop GONE!! Nice now all I have to do is use the new Marquee overlay I have. Yep this was a good find! 866 it will be :)

I'll hopefully be picking up a project like this soon. Dragon's Lair converted to a Street Fighter 2. I should be getting it for very cheap... but after I start hunting down all the parts, art, etc etc... can't wait to see the bill on what this one's going to cost me...

Submit both photos to dragons-lair-project.com laser game graveyard.... That Robocop conversion is craptastic.

Was it you that posted with "might be buying this" or someone else posted the "oh god why" thread on that robocrap conversion? I definitely twitched when I saw the picture in the older thread, glad to hear it's being put right though I still may have to bleach my eyeballs after seeing that again.

from robocop to Dragon's Lair

It's a start. :) It's cool to have all the parts to make it. Now I just need time. He He Before and after ;)

Top of game and marquee & laserdisc back drawer

Just thought I would post an update on the build. With two games and winter coming I had to make a choice. The Robo Cop is in bad shape has been painted and has big parts missing out of the sides. The bottom was rotting out and the lower corners were missing on the inside. And his "Art Work" on the inside of the cab has ruined the vinyl. The good news is the RC game had a NEW Monitor in it. I mean BRAND-NEW :) It also had a power supply, coin door, CP, Good Joy stick and coin box and misc parts. Not bad for $40.00 bucks! And I was able to sell the Boards and marquee overlay on the Bay. I also was able to find a friend who wants the Double Dribble boards and Marquee. The Double Dribble DL is in good shape but has the top cut. I know you all are going to hate me, but I have to do it. I used the parts from the Robo Cop to fix the top of the Double Dribble. I was also able to use the Drawer in the RC game to fix the Drawer on the DD game. I had to take off the old vinyl that had been painted on and use new Vinyl. It matches the old vinyl perfect. Now I will remove the Vinyl from the sides and front and replace it with new Vinyl. When I finish I will add more pics.

Can I hijack this?

There is a Dragon's Lair cabinet in Columbia SC that is about to get trashed. It was recently parted out and I'm not sure if there's anything that is useful to anyone. It had already been converted to something else. The worst thing about it is that somebody sawed the wood near the marquee flat to accommodate a flat marquee.

The plan was to bust it up and maybe save one of the sides to hang on the wall for decoration.

What a way to go. Anyway, seeing if there's any interest at all. You could have it for a token.

Come pick up a cheap Kangaroo while you're at it.

I want to say that Robocop conversion was a creation of that LAX LUX dude who made the craptastic Track n Field among other atrocities... but (A) You're very far from LA and (B) That Robocop is actually a little too nice for that douchebag.

:)

FrizzleFried you have a way with words..lol Man when I found that Robo Cop and looked at the Marquee and rails and knew I could use them. Hell just those parts saved me a bunch ! The Dragon's Lair I save will make it all worth it in the end. I'm going to pull the vinyl off of one side today. I will post how it goes.

Heat gun.

I was able to do one side last night. Best $12.00 I ever spent. Harbor freight 1500 W heat Gun.
