Ok, need to know where to begin with this thing. Game powers up, lights come on and about half the time I get a blank screen. Other half I get a white grid. If I disconnect the controller cable to the laser disc player most times it will play through the static screens and the attract loop with audio. I have one green and two red led's at the bottom of the board that are lit up.

This is my first laserdisc game so need to know what things I should check to try and diagnose where the problems might be. Any help would be really appreciated.

Thanks.

I can't be a great deal of help, but I have a Space Ace 91 that is similar, so there are a couple of things that are worth looking into.

Check the baud rate settings on the LD player. They are set by some dip switches on the back. Get the manual from the Dragon's Lair Project site to confirm the settings. Also, make sure there are no breaks in the RS232 cable and no bent pins. Oh, and check out the tech section and forums at DLP while you're there for the manual.

I'll check the LEDs on my board when I get home to see if there are any more that should be burning.

Make sure the disc is clean and free of any major scratches. I used Novus 2 and Novus 1 on mine with a new cotton cloth, and it turned out nice. Stay away from Novus 3, too harsh for the disc, and keep the disc away from water, especially at the seams.

Test all fuses and voltages with a DMM and be sure to remove any fuses before testing them.

Check the software ROM and make sure it is for Dragon's Lair II. The game will play Space Ace with just a ROM and disk swap, so it's worth checking the ROM, just to be sure.

Hope these ideas help.
