Dragged home a Tron U/R on an open trailer in the rain.

I just picked this up today. I bought it on Thursday, but was afraid of jinxing the deal by bragging about my score. Had to travel about 230 miles one way to pick it up and sure enough, it had to rain for a while on the way back. Did I fret? No, not at all. I'm pretty happy with the score. It's electrically and mechanically sound. It's had some cabinet repairs, but the seller did a pretty good job. He even included the full manual and a set of ROM chips that he bought. He was pretty nice guy. His wife told him to get rid of 2 of his 3 cabinets if he wanted to keep a pinball. He chose to keep his custom mame arcade. The other one he sold was a NEO-GEO 4 slot for $300. The buyer of that one showed up while I was loading and gave me some awfully dirty looks.

Got it in the garage and fired it up. Plays pretty good. The side shown is the bad side. The other side is perfect. Thankfully I enjoyed the modern miracle of stretch-wrap and sealing tape for the wet ride home. More pics and a few questions to follow when I get it cleaned up a little and assess it fully.

Okay...fess up. Who was it? It's okay, giving dirty looks when you see a deal like this happening in front of your face is a natural reaction. :p If the Neo Geo was dedicated, he got a good deal as well.

btw shrink wrap works great. I drove My battlezone home to Michigan from Ohio in a pickup and it down poured. It didn't get wet at all

I never thought of using shrink wrap for shorter trips, but after yesterday I will now. I drove 20 miles in a steady rain. I had the cab wrapped in tarps, but the outside of the cab still got wet. Nice pickup.

Seems like everyone is picking up Trons lately. The rain held off for me yesterday when I picked up my Tron. Also why is one side of Tron alwas mint and the other messed up?

I think this happens with a lot of games. One side gets lucky and is up against another game or wall.

I just ordered a couple of blacklights from bulbster.com. My Black Light Black was flickering and with the Black Light White (for the low marquee) being only $3.22, I got one of those too. I hope they're the right ones. They're both 18".

1 F15T8/BL [1214] $3.22
1 F15T8/BLB [1215] $7.22
Shipping & Handling (Table Rate) : $6.95
Tax (MT) : $0.00
Total: $17.39

My windshield appliques are split at the creases nearest the outside panels. Is there a repair technique to fix this. I'm thinking to pull out the whole assembly and using a heat gun with some epoxy to fix it. Any better ideas?

IME the White tube bulbs seem to need to be replaced about every 5-6 months if the machine is on location. Just a heads up... also, there are a lot of games that actually used those. If Battlezone, Asteroids Deluxe, or Space Invaders are on your want list... might as well plan ahead and stock up... because I didn't and now I have to do another order. le sigh...

Anywho, great score. I was really happy when I got my Tron project up and running, and even happier when I brought it back home after it was on location for 2+ years.

Tron got a couple of new light tubes and a battery backup RAM while in my possession, but yesterday found a new home with a brand new collector who has been playing the game on a PC with terrible controls for a long time. He happily paid $700 and I was happy to sell it to him at what seemed about a $350 discount from what could have been gotten on eBay.

In the end, TRON always held my interest for levels 2 and 3, but 1 was too easy and 4 got too hard. My high score was around 18,600 and I probably played around 60 games. I completely understand the collectibility and wow factor of the game, but the gameplay? Not so much. I really enjoyed light cycles, but you can keep the other 3 mini-games.

Nice score! It rained when I got my Tron, but I wrapped it in a tarp and it arrived home without a drop of water on it. I've done the shrink wrap trick a couple of times as well.

Enjoy your game. I miss my Tron and hope to get another someday.

Ditto.

For my money, even though DOT was an "accident", it ended up being the far better game.
