Hello,
I am new to this site and have some questions. I own an arcade game that stopped working several years ago. It is an Atari Drag Race (1977). It was working when I bought it, but the screen went black one day while we were playing it, and it has sat covered up ever since. The cabinet is in decent condition, but I am trying to decide if it is worth fixing. I don't want to spend more on it than it's worth. I guess my questions are.....does anyone know of a reliable repair shop in the Central California area? Does anyone have any idea what this thing is worth, as is? This site is the only info I have found on the internet and I sure was glad to find it. Thanks for any help or advice! Ralph

Welcome Ralph, can you still hear it playing even though the video isn't working?

Not yet, been busy with the kids. On my to-do list for tonight! It's on it's way to 108degrees here today.....so this evening.

I replaced the fuse but, as soon as I plugged it back in ......it blew again. There are 2 fuses in the power supply, it is the front one that keeps blowing.

A fuse blowing immediately is a sign that something is shorted. If you are willing to go through fuses you can unplug the monitor (a 12 position large white connector) and/or the game board replace the blown fuse and restore power. If the fuse blows then you have isolated the problem away from the disconnected component(s).

In my experience the monitors seem to go first on these (they are repairable) so I would start there. However, I have seen shorted components on the game board that could cause similar problems.

Good info, Oryk- is there also a 2-prong connector on that game up by the monitor (like with Williams raster games etc) that he could disconnect rather than pulling the 12-pin one that you recommended, to do the same check? I'm only suggesting this connector if it exists on that game so that he can eyeball some other possibilities, if this is all new to him.

Keep going Ralph!

Can you take a closer pic of that 4.2 text on the plexi? I have never noticed that on a DR before.

No, the 12 position connector houses the power as well as the video signals. It is an all in one connector.
