I am just wondering which one of these machines you'd rather purchase, given that the machines would be in the same decent, working shape and are both being offered at the same price. I've played FT and like it, but never played Dr. Who, so not sure on this one.

I've played Fish Tales, but not enought to really judge it. Dr. Who, in my opinion, is an underated game. Very cool playfield that rises up. The problem is that it was consistently out of order on location. The op would come to fix it, we'd get a week or two of play out of it, then it would be malfunctioning again.

Dr Who is more complex and pretty cool. However, I have grown to dislike it after watching 'pros' play it: multiple upper loops to crank up the playfield X, then kill the MB for points. Plus the memorized video modes. Fishtales is a more approachable game that's fun for all. Whichever way you're leaning, that's the game for you!

I'm leaning toward Fishtales, as I know I like that one. I just wanna make sure I'm not missing out by passing on the good doctor.

OMG Phet! Get Dr Who!!!!!!!!!! That game is awesome!

Edit:
(BTW I have never played it, but I have watched lots of videos on the internet about it.)

Still it looks like a great game, switching between Doctors, the time expander etc. Even the Dalek topper is cool!

Look at that topper:

A year ago I'd probably say Dr. Who....now I'd probably say Fish Tales. They both have an "annoying" factor (DW's robots, FT's redneck music) ...but FT's shots and "set up/reward" shots are just so fun and satisfying. I think DW would get boring quicker...but- I do love the raising/lowering center thingie.

Personally, I'd say Fish Tales. Read your post to a friend when I first saw it. He said Dr. Who since it was sci fi and had the cool Darlick topper that you could mod now. Also, it has a second playfield like TZ. And I know FT can be annoying...after a while.

For my two bits... Owning a Doctor Who (retrofitted with the moving Dalek topper) and having spent some quality(?) time with a Fish Tales that came thru my shop...

I'd say depending on your interests, and all other things being equal, either machine is a good play. If I found a Fish Tales at a good price (and condition) I would add one to the collection but I'm not giving my Doctor Who up any time soon!

Personally... the 'redneck' music and commentary on Fish Tales grates a tad after a time, but that's just me... I would expect that some would find the Daleks equally grating with time, but as someone else commented Doctor Who is a deep game. I have had mine for three years or so and it still surprises me from time to time.

FWIW
