I've got a Vs. PCB that currently has Gradius installed in it. I bought a Dr. Mario daughter card last year for plans to build a dedicated Dr. Mario cabaret.

Will this swap work with just the Dr. Mario daughtercard? Do I need other ROM's to make it work? I don't want to mess something up on the board because I was unaware of something I needed to do.

Thanks for any info!

Yes, that's all you need. Swapping daughtercards can be a pain though... very tight fit in those sockets. You have to use a great deal of pressure to get them seated properly.

Hey,
You just have to swap the daughter cards. If the Dr. Mario card does not have the CPU chip on it you will need to take that off the Gradius daughter card and put it on the Dr. Mario card. Sometimes the daughter cards will not have a PPU on them. Dr. Mario and Gradius take different PPUs.

Just be certain that you put every chip and card in the correct direction and make sure the pins line up good when you push down the daughter card. They are normally hard to press down so don't be too worried about applying a bit of pressure. I was bothered about how much was needed the first time I did it. It helps to lay them down on a hard flat area to press and apply pressure evenly to the PCB.

Good info there.

Thanks for the help guys!! I appreciate the tips on the pressure required to seat the chip as well. I installed a high score saving kit in my Mario Bros. widebody and remember being worried I was going to break the PCB because I had to push so hard. Sounds like it is a similar situation.

I'll probably post again with picture to make sure the card is seated in the proper orientation.

Thanks again!
