Is Double Play Super Baseball/Home Run Derby a hard game to find? I'm having trouble locating it for sale.
Yeah, I think they are relatively rare. I use to play the full size and table top versions. Great baseball arcade. Probably the best. The Pitcher/Batter interface is second to none (even by todays standards). I knew a couple of Basball junkies that discovered the game at a local 7-11, they stayed up all night playing the game.

My guess is they are probably in a lot of major and former major league arcade collections. I doubt many come up for sale very often.
If you find one, jump on it.
Good luck finding one, though
I am actually surprised 1up never came out with a rendition? They probably would of cleaned up with a release??? Update the rosters maybe a few graphic updates, and take it online???
They would of made a killing.
Baseball Arcade games are extremely dificult to make, Just because the "graphics" are great, doesnt necessarily translate into a good baseball arcade game. In fact the graphics usually ruin the playability of all Baseball arcade and home console games. They look good but play like sh*t, they just aren't that fun.
EA was probably the last one to get it somewhat right. They basically ripped off Double Play with their Triple Play offering. Basically reaching its climax with Triple Play 97. After a Tune & Tweak nothing compares as far a playability and fun.
Probably some room out there for a Baseball arcade game that has slightly better graphics, utilizing the Pitcher/batter interface of Lelands Double play with the hustle button. and EA's Triple play 97 graphics baserunning and playability.
I think the big problem would be in adding a joystick to Double Play?
I suppose if you added a joystick on the left side of the Flick Stick Picher Interface and a joystick to the left of the Batting Flick stick would probably make for the along with 2 added buttons for both offense and defense would probably provide the best gameplay experience.
Doubtful anybody would invest in the game though? Maybe MLB? probably be in their best interest to invest in the arcade game though.
Probably have to have a slightly bigger cabinet than usual to accomadate the two joysticks and 2 extra buttons for Offense and Defense.
