When I was growing up Double Dragon was opne of my favorite arcade games. I distinctly remember seeing two different looks to the cabinets in my area (Hamilton, Ontario, Canada). I can only seem to find pictures of the black marquee Taito cabinet. I also remember the game having a marquee and art similar to what was on most home version packaging. I've uploaded a picture. I believe the orange marquee version was Technos, not Taito.

Am I crazy, can anyone else confirm this?

All of the black marquees I have seen are Taito and the dedicated cab is grey I think with taito on the side and a huge stripe. I also know that DDII was made by technos

That's funny. I thought most of the Double Dragon machines had the same side art and cabinet style as Defender... :D

But seriously, Double Dragon was one of those games that lots of older games got converted into pretty often. I've seen several with bootleg boards and obviously bootleg (or homemade) marquees or artwork.

Yes that is the black marquee version which seem much more well know but the more I think of it the other version I remember was much more common (at least in my area). It had the proper "Billy" and "Jimmy" names not the Taito Americanization names of "Spike" and "Hammer".

I know as a kid I had played both, but the orange marquee Billy/Jimmy version was much more prevailant than the black marquee Spike/Hammer version.

I've got to track one down to prove I'm not crazy!!!
