I've seen the light! I've been accused of making reproductions and counterfeits, not restorations. Unfortunately there is no category for reproductions so i'll post here.

Discs of Tron UPRIGHT #2

Cabinet and Hardware:

Original cabinet, fixed a corner with bondo and purple paint.
Original metal parts - cleaned with Armor All!
Original T-molding - cleaned with Windex!
Original Locks - can't find the keys but no big deal
Original Casters - bent to hell but i bent them back so it doesn't tip over as much

Cosmetics:

Still looking for the right sharpies to match the purple and pink colors.

Original Marquee - cleaned with Windex!
Original glass - cleaned with Windex!
Original controller - deflect button was stuck so i sprayed it with WD-40 and now it works good
Original control panel - cleaned with baby wipes!

Electronics:

Replaced bad bulb behind marquee - I know i know i promised not to use ANY NEW PARTS but i couldn't figure out how to rebuild a glass bulb.
Plugged machine in. Doesn't totally work but i don't want to reproduce anything inside there so it will have to do.

All done!! My best work so far i think.

I'll be wrapping up the side art once i find good Sharpies to match the purples and pinks.

Check out the fade on the light cover! Doesn't get more original than that!

Love me some wrist-scratching control panel action because that's how it was back in the day

I didn't put that credit button there but i don't dare change it from how i got it, it might be original.
Besides the blue matches

Tried to clean off whatever this was on there but didn't want to ruin the original cabinet so i didn't try very hard

Its worth double what the extreme restore is :) My tron is an original restored and boy do I wish I had shelled out for a new cab before putting ultra expensive art on an original cab. The flaws of 30 year old MDF are things I realize are there. Nothing can fix that or increase the value there.

What's wrong guys, this is EXACTLY what you define as a restoration.

There's no pleasing you guys :)

What u need to do fizgig...is post a pic of two different 100% minty cabs....and then ask which one is a reproduction... and which is a restoration. If we can't tell the difference...then it should just prove that it really doesn't matter. They both are nice....both will last for years to come...and both have original guts inside them... both will equally entertain the exact same way. I honestly just don't get it. I understand...but in 30 years when original cabs are 60 years old and litterally falling apart...and yours just needs a "restoration"...what people will say then...

Dude, you cheaped out? You are so much better than that...

You could, at least, use a magic eraser to clean it up.. You might even be able to clean up the big ass brown spot on the left side...

You're use of Windex is exceptional! Was that the blue or the clear version?

Hey... I already stated more than once that I thought your reproductions looked great... they're just not restorations. Don't lump me in with those who think you're a turd for destroying original cabinets... you can do what you want with your games, just be a little more honest about what it is you're doing.

You're just proving our point. There's nothing on that cab that couldn't be fixed with a little work. Or paying someone else to do it, in your case.
