"DOOM'D!" -- The Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 Project

Hey all,

This is my first post here, as I'm usually found on the BYOAC site, but I wanted to pop over to share the progress on my Doom 3 inspired arcade cabinet, that it presently in the works.

For those of you not familiar the Super Turbo Turkey Puncher 3 game within Doom 3, you can see the youtube video here:

My inspiration for my cabinet came from this game, as I've seen a lot of different arcade cabinets in my years, and very few people going out on their own to design something unique. When they have, they're simply amazing works of art, and I wanted to take a walk in their footsteps and see if I could measure up. Some of the most inspiring work has come from people like Ond, who has made amazing progress on his own cabinet, as well as DrVenture who built his arcade into an antique buffet!

Early in the game, when I put forth that I was designing this new cabinet, I knew nothing of Sketchup, and tried my hand at Ulead PhotoImpact... ...which may as well have been Microsoft Paint. (Pic 1) When the guys over at BYOAC saw this, I was immediately offered help. Roo jumped in, grabbed a 'Developers Kit' from id Software, and somehow managed to extract all of the in-game models (Pic 2) for the video game. Ond, himself, created the 3D models (Pic 3) which were amazing. (I didn't include them within, as they are really large.)

This spurred me on to learn Google Sketchup, and thus, here is my latest Sketchup Plan for the cabinet:

I've already broken ground on the project, and am close to completing the control panel... Here is a pic from the other day. Since this point, I have filled and sanded the entire panel once, and have just filled some other minor imperfections that I didn't get the first time around.

Everything there is just 'set to fit', and to make sure the layout worked and looked ok to me... I'll keep everyone updated as things progress!

Cheers
