When I was rebuilding my rectifier board, I didn't have a desoldering iron with a large enough tip to go after the fuse holders, so I figured they were fine. Surely fuse clips don't go bad!

Hah.

FG started rebooting randomly today. A few hours with the DMM traced it back to the rectifier board, where I pulled the fuse, tested it, put it back it, and noticed viola! it was good for another 3 or 4 games. Sure enough, on closer inspection, the holders had that signature black burnt stuff on the insides.

So I finally broke down and replaced the holders. But of course now the extra stress of yanking the board a bunch of times spelled the end for the crappy solder job I did on BR1/2 that were "Good enough". (another 30 minutes of DMM fun). yanked the board again, fixed the joints, all is well again.

But that was a good 3-4 hours I could have saved by spending an extra 15 minutes doing it right the first time

So, lesson of the day, Don't do what I did! :p
