Donor Tubes from Goodwill

Success!!!!

I scored a tv about a month ago that had one of those "Orion" generic tubes in it.. Tested the yoke and got readings just about dead on with a k7000.. Changed the yoke connector (stock one won't fit on chassis) also changed the degauss ring connector (just read that these may pop fuses?). Hooked up a known working k7000 and....

It looks amazing.

No need to mess with the yoke or rings.. Tested 5 other k7000 chassis and everyone worked perfectly! Guess I'm on the hunt for more of these tvs! Funny thing was I picked this one just for haha's as I was mainly looking for older Go7 type replacements.. Still haven't found one yet :( Can't remember the brand, sharp maybe.. Looks just like the ones a few posts up.

Oh, and I also tested a wells 7203 chassis on this tube, it also works!

Thanks for everyone's help! I'm now hooked on replacing every game in my collection with donor tubes..

Try degaussing first. If it wont go away then you probably need to move the yoke in or out. Turning the yoke will turn the picture.
Like they said, keep the original rings with its tube. I run a bead of hot glue to lock them together before removing them. This way you only need one mark to get them back where they belong.

I pulled the yoke back a little so it wasn't crooked from the rubber stoppers and its looks good now.

I had pushed it down on the stoppers assuming they would "position" it like the original tv yoke so it was slightly crooked. Pulling it back and making it straight seemed to fix it up I checked all the colored backgrounds they were all good now!

Now I need more TV's This monitor looks awesome and it was my junker before!

So what kind of TV did you use?

I have a dead tube in a KI cab with 25" Hantarex POLO A63ADT10X05
vert 5.7 horiz 1.7

I have a tube tv that I was gonna get a universal chassis for my machine but have run short on money and wanted to see if maybe I can swap the tube instead of buying a new chassis.

Zenith tube is A63AGD01X with vert 4.7 horiz. 1.5
I was wondering if this is too far off for a swap? I was also noticing that my dead monitor in the cab has like a resistor or something. Maybe that has something to do with that 1.0 on the horizontal?

Good thread so far.

I tried it out changed all of the connectors and made sure everything was right and the game plays blind. no neck glow. Idk if there is anything wrong with the chassis because I had it recapped and everything from chad at arcadecup

Hey everybody -- tomorrow (saturday) is half price day at Goodwill. Just a 'heads-up' for anyone looking to score some tubes. I printed the junknet list and brought a little flashlight along when I went last month, it was real easy to find the ones with the correct tube numbers on them.

Today's score

Found a 19" magnavox black plasic case tv on CL today.. $10 and it was right down the street.. Took a chance and scored!!! It's a direct drop in for most of the k7000 skinny necks. Ohms are almost spot on.. This makes 3-4 burn free exact matches I've found..

Pretty excited, as I scored (2) chassis on klov a week ago for $50 shipped.. They both work 100%. One is a k7203 with remote pcb, the other is a k7000 or newer with remote pcb.. They look almost new. Just need to find a few more and my collection will all have new or almost new monitors with zero burn! So awesome

So I went back to Goodwill this weekend, for their monthly 'everything is 50% off day' on the first Saturday of the month.

The TVs were back, and in a big way -- we went to a couple stores, and both had dozens of TVs. Many 19" and 25". They were cheaper this time too, most of the 19s were $7.99 to $9.99 before the discount. Check out the selection:

OMG i know where i'm going first sat of march :D

This time I snagged 2 TVs, both for $4 each. I was specifically looking for tubes that would work as drop-ins for G07s or Sanyo EZs, as all my Wells-Gardners now have perfect new tubes from my previous adventures.

I selected these 2, a Symphonic and a MGA Mitsubishi in a wood case (actually real wood!) Here are their yoke readings:

Symphonic WF-13:
Tube number: A48JLL90X
Horizontal (Red/blue) tested: 4.9
Vertical (Yellow/green) tested: 16.5
It had an 8-pin socket (7 pins and 1 key pin)

Not sure about those numbers, they are close to the Wells Gardner K7000s, but the Horizontal is a little off.

MGA (Mitsubishi) CS1945-R:
Tube number: A48JEX03X E
Horizontal (Red/blue) tested: 2.8
Vertical (Yellow/green) tested: 54.1
It had a 10 pin socket (9 pins and 1 key pin)

If I am not mistaken, the Mitsubishi is an exact match for a G07, and only .8 ohm off on the Horizontal for a Sanyo. Right? I may have found a drop-in for G07s and EZs -- now to decide which monitor gets it...
