I get a deal on a Donkey kong3 motherboard and cables.
So I searched for a Dk3 Control panel from a vender.

Well the CP game a few days ago.
I am thinking really is this a 4 out of 5 star CP?
That pertty generous ratings don't you think?
Bent and worn out controls, Holes drilled out to hold cracking plexiglass.
What a pile of well you know.

After.

Well I took it all a part.

Clean it with window cleaner. Very mild stuff..
Clean it with orange oil. Gentle but a little better in cleaning stubborn stuff.

The top of the DK3 cp it has some sort of black paint not sure oil or epoxy.

A Little WD 40. Nope.
A Little mineral spirts. Nope
A Little paint thinner. Nope.
A Little paint remove. Nope.

Ugly black paint just won't come off.
So I have a can of flux remover.
It comes off..

A Little sanding on theback side to deal with the rust.

Now you can call this DK3 CP a 4 out of 5 stars item.

That actually turned out really nice after you put the time in to it. I'd say the cracked plexi ended up being a blessing.

FYI, your spray button should look just like the start buttons. It looks like it was swapped out for a leaf switch.

Thanks you for pointing that out. I didn't know. This is my frist Dk3 project and I learning and having a lot of fun with it.

I was going to say minus the holes drilled that you could probably clean it up with a lot of elbow grease as those overlays were very well made and durable..then I read down further in your post..LOL!..I got a lot of those..mostly NOS many years ago..I have one on my game and maybe one nos one left..the rest sold off to others to be used to restore games..they are actually pretty easy to find in nice condition..

Well It seems that it not so easy to find good stuff in the Los Angles market. The Last 2 of the 3 games I picked up were at least an hour plus outside the area. When I get finish with my projects here. I should travel back east with a LARGE truck laughs.

It just seems that way...It seems I'm always finding stuff I have to ship back to Pittsburgh from your way...and can never find what I want out this way...so you know how that goes..:D Of course I tend to group California as a small area and of course its a large state..much like Pennsylvania...people always think when they see something in say Philly..hey you can just go pick that up...yeah right..its almost a 5 plus hour trip from Pittsburgh to Philly on a good day...more towards 6 hours..LOL

I know what you mean.
It take 10 hours trip to go up to north of the state it not a short trip or a cheap trip since gas is over 4 dollars a gallon.
it takes 10 and 45 minutes to phoniex and Only 5 to las vegas.
Laughs

Well next time I see something I want out your way I'm contacting you...and you can do the same..sometimes just the connection method helps eliminate some cost..if you have guys willing to help each other out...

I don't have a problem helping out.
It's always great to find that game you wanted for so long.
It's just as fun as helping someone finding theirs.

My friends always complain I am an expensive friend because I have a nack in finding games. Most wives hate me. laughs.

4 out of 5 stars? that was a pos, good work getting it decent.

Thanks you. I had fun getting it to the 4 to 5 range. Just need to find the buttons and either a New joytick or rebuild the old one. The old one wasn't really designed to be rebuilt. Even with cleaning and new swtiches. It going to be a little sloppy Maybe I can replace the inside with a new bearing. Like a head of a tie rod.

Maybe I should just go shopping for a new parts.

Ninty sticks are very easy to rebuild.
You just need to clean the old grease from the pivot ball area with WD-40 or brake cleaner and blow it out good.
Mikes Arcade has all the replacement parts if they are needed.
The only way is could be not salvageable is if the pivot ball is rusted and can't be made to move freely.

I shook and it rattled.
Time to look for another one I think.

Slide the stick in and see if there is any side to side slop in the pivot ball.
If not then it is OK. Mine rattle when completely clean and dry.
Those things are pretty bullet proof.
I have some spares, though pretty dirty but work, should you need one.
You just need to pay shipping, priority is only $5.
