Have a Nintendo Donkey Kong - 2-board set that plays and sounds 100%, except for one minor little issue... when Donkey Kong falls after the second level (rivets), only half of his body rotates. The issue is 100% consistent and I can find no other issues with the game. Very specific and weird failure.

My assumption is a bit (bits) failed in one of the PROMs, so can anyone point me to the specific PROM that contains that particular code. Then again, I could be barking up the wrong tree. I can certainly replace all of the PROMs in a shotgun method, but I would rather narrow the issue down as it may be helpful for others in the future.

Do you know the MAME trick to figure that out? Open up MAME, run Donkey Kong. Then take one of the prom files that you're suspect about and rename it "d4renamed.bin" or whatever. You might need to copy one of the other files and name if "d4.bin" so the game will start. Basically you're creating a bad file (but save your old one so you can put it back and test the other one).

Start the game again and see what it screws up.... if you find one that screws up the images including Donkey Kong that's likely the chip involved with that.

It's not 100% but can put you in the right area of the board...
