Hello I'm not too sure what the exact name of this part is(wooden panel with a groove on top where the bezel rests) ,but the one on my cab is in pretty bad shape. It has some sort of laminate that's peeling up and chipped off everywhere. What would be the proper way to restore this? bondo, sanding and painting? Thank you

Take off the laminate. Very easy to do. Then sand and paint it. Comes out nice. Unless you have black laminate. Then put that on after taking off the old.

This is what I was thinking about doing, as it's basically peeling itself off. I'm worried that if I bondo/paint it'll have a void/air pocket underneath due to the bad condition of the laminate separating from the wood. Thank you guys.
