Donkey Kong - Which switcher will work without showing sprites?

So, I have this DK Board that I installed in my DK Jr. Cab. Now, DK Jr. works fine. No issues.
But the DK board shows random sprites. I have a switcher installed. But I think the -5v
is most likely the problem. Anyone running a switcher for Donkey Kong and have no issues
with sprites? If so, which switcher are you using and what is the voltage that you have it
running?

Misread the question... DERP

My answer was about board/game switchers not switching power supplies..

You need a switcher that supplies 1 amp or more for -5. The stock power supply does. And some of the happ supplies do. The cheap ones are rated at 1/2 (0.5) amp and for -5.

The +5 adjustment is a sliding window on most supplies, meaning if you crank up the +5, you move the -5 closer to 0 volts. I run my donkey kong test bench around +4.85, which also supplies about -4.85 or so of -5.

Hope that makes sense to you.

Thanks Mike

So what you're saying is I should try to lower my voltage down to +4.85 to get the -5.0v if
I'm reading correctly. If that doesn't work, I should try a happ supply which has 1amp on
the -5v rail.

Lol, well better yet, use a meter and check if you are starving the -5. Also, check the rating written on your power supply if it is not stock, to see that is can supply enough amperage on the -5 supply.

Lots of times folks turn up the +5, not realizing they are starving the board of -5.

ok

Thanks Mike. I will measure the -5vdc on the board tonight to see if I can stabilize it at
the IC's. Hopefully this will work.
