So I was playing a game of DK (2 board set) and the weirdest thing happened. I started a new game, everything was working as expected. As soon as I was able to control Jumpman on the first level, I walked about 5-7 steps to the right, instantly warped to the top, and DK was climbing off with Pauline and I was getting the bonus points.

Anyone ever see anything like this before? I found this info on Crazy Kong, which describes the same effect, but I never got to the 2nd girder, let alone deliberately jumped to the right. http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/romset/ckongg

Really, it's not normal? I thought I was just REALLY GOOD at Donkey Kong. :)

Seriously though, I hope it's not board failure. Knock on wood, but this happened 2-3 days ago, for one game, and I've played 40-50 games since then which have all worked fine. I have since then jiggled all the connector cables so maybe it was just a freak occurrence. If it happens again, I'll probably have it repaired.

You didn't happen to notice if a piece of the girder was missing at the time, did you? I've got a DK board with graphical glitches where there's holes in the girders, and as soon as Mario falls thru the hole, he immediately clears the board (which locks the game up on the demo screen, as it doesn't know how to handle that). It is similar to that jump cheat on Crazy Kong (which is the same basic code as DK). It's programmed to clear the board as soon as Mario is on the same level or above as the girl. So falling thru the floor, as soon as he hits the top of the screen, it thinks you cleared the board.

I did have an issue where Pauline was walking on air, but that has cleared up after the cable-jiggling too. The girder Jumpman was walking on looked solid.

Did you happen to see one of these on the screen? If so, that could possibly explain it.

To quote my high school physics teacher, Professor Farnsworth, you mere experienced a lurch forward in time. I recommend getting your chronoton filters cleaned out.
Sorry, but I couldn't resist a Futurama reference.
