Donkey Kong Voltage Issues

Just to add... I blew the 300ma a few weeks back, and it completely kills the sound along with the picture (it was hard to tell it was blown at first too). I know it's not your problem but I'd thought I'd let you know.

I just got done removing the power supply cage and checking the 4A fuse, and it was still okay. I removed it and re-seated it in order to make sure contact was fine. I put everything back together and I have the same problem.

No neck glow, no game noise, no sign of life at all out of Donkey Kong.
- I get 102V at the internal plugs
- All 5 fuses are good

What should I try next? Thanks again everybody for your suggestions thus far.

Are you 100% sure the 300ma fuse is good?

Yeah, I took it out out tested it not 10 minutes ago. I also probed it after being re-installed in the cabinet to make sure there was continuity between the solder contacts on the PCB at the base of the fuse holders.

Well, it sounds like a monitor issue for sure if you have no neck glow. Are you comfortable with removing the chassis? If so, pull it and check for bad traces/burnt components/loose connections. It seems weird that all you did is move it and the monitor stopped working. Usually it's a harness or plug that wiggled loose when you move them. Anyway, also look for cold solder joints and cracked traces.

Yeah, I'm comfortable enough removing the chassis. I re-capped it several months back so It's not the first time I have had to remove it. Since it seems to be a monitor issue, shouldn't DK3 still run in the background and shouldn't I still be able to hear sound from it?

iirc, the sound amp is on the monitor chassis (which is why a lot of Nintendo games have that hum). So if the chassis is dead, the sound is dead.

Remove the edge connector and reseat it. also reseat the ribbon cables on the bottom of the boardset.

Turn up the brightness on the back of the fly and see if you get raster on the monitor.

Just reseated the edge connector and the ribbon cables on the DK3 boardset. I adjusted what I think is the brightness on the flyback, but it's labeled 'screen' not brightness (there are two adjustments on the back of the fly, focus and screen). I see nothing on the monitor at all. It does not make the usual 'turn on' noise that it used to make. When I had similar problems in the past it has been the fuses, this is a real stumper to me.
