I have a donkey kong with the tkg3 4 board set that will not coin up. When you turn the game on you get the jump sound & the monitor displays 1up & level00 upside down. This game works with my 2 board set. Any help is greatly appreciated

A few thing bother me. The fact that it will not coin up is one. Just to be safe and one thing I always check is the power supply. First check your 5 volts at the board and see exactlly what is there. The connector at the board check this also. I am not too shure about them boards but I have read somewhere that flipping the connector could cause problems like what you are having. If you verify you have +5 to +5.15 volts at the chips and the connector is in the right way, then check your dip switches. In cocktail mode the grafix will appear to be upside down for other player. After you check that maybee someone with expierence with those boards will chime in.
You probably should check you Rom chips also.

dip switches dont change anything on the screen no matter what configuration u set them at - I dont know if swapping in a 4 bd set where a 2bd was requires a different harness .

If this game will not coin up then I would check your connections and the resistors mentioned earlier. Usually the manual will have the pin outs for the boards. Check them to see if there is a diffrence between the 2 bds and 4 bds. The coin up issue should be an easy fix. I would suspect that if this works with you 2 board system and does not work with your 4 board system the pin outs are probably diffrent. Like I said I have no expierence with these boards and have not looked up the manual as I am on dial up and it takes a long time to get one manual.
I would start with the coin up issue as this is usually a ground to one of the pins on the main connector. On my Galaga boards, I just put ground to one of the pins on the 44 pin connector. Same with movement, player start, and fire controlls.

From what I have read it only needs something added for the audio from the power supply and that is for the audio.
