I just purchased a DK, but the speaker opening has been poorly bondo'd and random holes drilled. Can someone with a dedicated DK cabinet measure the slits and give me the dimensions? I have a CNC router that I can cut the new board with. I just am not sure what to cut.

Thanks,
jeff

Don't have any. The last person that had it cut it out, filled it with bondo and drilled holes freehand. He tried to make a pattern, but it looks terrible. The bondo isn't even sanded smooth.

5 or 7 slots. Depends on what color cab you have is what you'll want to use. I'm not near a machine to tell you how wide the slots are.

One more question. Is the speaker grill centered top to bottom on the board? Can someone measure how far the bottom of the longest slot is from the botton of the board?

Thanks
Jeff

That's the information that Sledgehammer sent and it was great, but It doesn't show the top to bottom positioning of the speaker grill. I just want to make the restoration as accurate as possible. It's probably centered, but I just wanted to verify it.

On my DK Cabinet, it's 1 1/2" from the top which isn't quite centered.

It should also be noted that each cab can be different depending on when it was made and for which game. My Popeye cab is way different then my DK and DK Jr Cab.

I believe this cabinet used to be a Mario Bros. cabinet, but my goal here is to make it a DK. Thanks for the info.

I scratch built my cab and used those Jakobud plans along with lots of photos from the web as reference.

I placed the center slot (the longest one) dead center, meaning from the tip of each end of the slot to the edge of the front panel is the same length.

I used a 1/4" drill bit to make the initial holes and then my router with a 1/4" straight bit to make the slots from on hole to the other. I believe I spaced them 5/8" apart from each other.

Check my sig for my build log on BYOAC if you're interested.
