Hey everyone,

I'm restoring a DK cabinet. I have everything in place except for the wire with the 2 pin connector that attaches to the speaker itself. It attaches to the other end of a molex that eventually goes to the audio board.

I haven't found this on any of the parts sites, so I'd like to make it myself. What gauge wire is it? Is it shielded cable? What kind of connector is it? What parts would I need to crimp it? Any sources for these specific parts?

Thanks for any advice. New to the hobby, and never put on a molex connector before.

I don't know if you'll find the original plugs, they're not molex. you can always make your own though. since it's just wires for a speaker, you can get away with 22 gauge. whatever you use to crimp is up to you. the pins you'd probably be best using are .093.

Check with security0001 who is a member here. I was really surprised by the number of Nintendo connectors he has in stock. I actually think the chances you'll be able to find the "correct" connector are pretty good. The speaker cable connector is one of the more plain ones.

i don't have them on my site but i told the OP i would do some digging in my inventory because i used to carry them and i always have a stash of stuff for myself to keep all my games going so i am sure i have them.

Not the sound cable. That one goes from the audio amp to the pcb. It's the red and white cable that goes from the audio amp to the speaker that I'm looking for.

The other thing is, if you're just looking for a similar (but not exact) replacement, then finding the parts should be very easy. You can get red and white wire at Lowes or Home Depot. 2 pin Molex connectors and the pins are easy to get.

The wire is not insulated or anything, it's just plain old wire. My guess would be 18 or 22 gauge. I'd have to check.

The connectors you're looking for are from the AMP Commercial Mate-n-Lok collection.

AMP was purchased and renamed TE Connectivity, Inc.

These are probably your connectors. I'm pretty sure about the plug; the receptacle looks a bit different than I remember.

But this should get you started....

Thanks. I guess these from Mike's might work? http://mikesarcade.com/cgi-bin/store.pl?sku=MNL02R

Don't want to have to wait two weeks though.

if you dont want original connectors which i should have i do have every molex connector in stock and AMP too. if you want to use molex either the .084 or .093 will work for you and the .084 is the closest to the original pin size as the original and i have all in stock.

This looks about right! I think the goal must have been to design a connector that is a son of a bitch to take apart! Man I hate removing that connector.

The key term you're missing here is COMMERCIAL mate n lok. That differs from the standard mate n lok line.

Here they are at Mouser.com. $.20 a piece.

Okay, I'm all done spoon feeding you now. You can use the part numbers to find them elsewhere if you need to ;)

BTW: these are not the correct original ones but they will work. those numbers were only released in the USA and they use a different part number i used to carry for the Japanese market which nintendo should be the japanese version. i have never seen both side by side to see what the real difference was but that is what i was told by TE when i used to carry them.

Necro thread bump. Peter, I'm not going to get in a pissing match with you about arcade parts, but I really can't see the difference between the above mentioned parts and what you may have. I'd like to see a side-by-side comparison to know the difference.

I'm throwing down the gauntlet! :D

different amp part numbers but side by side they are interchangeable. i don't know if its in the plastic composition or if they used a different number for ones released in japan versus north america. amp couldn't tell me either because the connectors are so old.

Ever the diplomat. I appreciate the fact that you diffuse my drama explosives so easily.

Now, if you could just source the black multi-connectors used in the DK 4-board wiring harnesses....
