Donkey Kong sound problem

Just purchased a donkey kong with no sound. speaker is goood. what should i Check first. Plays fine just no sound.
 
1.Check to see if the wires to the amp and the sound board are intact.

2. See if the sound knob on the monitor board is turned up.

3. Figure out if the sound is shot on your PCB.
 
Yeah, like Fader said, it could be somethin as simple as the sound being turned down. If you open up the back there's a little board with some dials directly to the left of the monitor. The volume knob is the one on the far left. There is also a volume control for the digital/analog sound mix on the PCB. If you're getting just walk, jump, and stomp, but no music, then you probably just need to adjust that dial.

Check the manual for this stuff, you can find it online.
 
If all the above don't work, try pulling the little board with the volume knob and check with a magnifier for cracked solder joints. I have seen many over the years with cracked joints around the connector pins.
