OK,had a cap kit installed yesterday by my friend Dave on a DK I bought as a non-op (powered up but need a cap-kit/bad pic)and restored, after the kit was installed we powered it up,and with some quick adjustments,it had an awesome picture. We put some credits on the game and I played a quick game.It sounded fine for my short lived test run..we shut it off to fix a few minor things, when we powered it back on to play the sound was messed up; from the beginning.../ Donkey Kong climbing up ladder music was different and too fast / Boom, boom boom of kong on girders was good / DK growl was bad,stuck(1 long grrrrrrrrrrr)for about 5 seconds / music for the "how high" screen ;wrong music and fast / jumpman walk;good / jump noise(in air over nothing ;OK / over a barrel jump,110 points noise; none / hammer smash barrel;no noise Hopefully someone can point me in the right direction !!Thank you in advance for any help!!

Thank you for the help,I saw those links from another thread ,my game seems to be doing a few things not described in those links. After dinner Im going to start checking connections and chips..Thanks! Jeff

Sorry I don't have anything more. From skimming your list it looks like your analog sounds are fine and the digital are messed up. I'd suspect 7k first, then 8k. The big socketed chip might be it too, I think it's an 8048. BTW I am not a guru, but I've been trying to fix a few DK/JR boards myself lately. :)

EDIT: Could also be the sound EPROMS -- got an eeprom programmer so you can dump them and check?
