I have been trying to troubleshoot my dk sound to no avail. I have no music and no dk grin sound. I do have running and jump sound and the pound sound at the start of the game when dk jumps. I looked on the braze page and pulled and reseated 7h and 3h. Every chip on my board is clean an looks brand new. Any advice?

replace chip LM324 at 7k,its a smaller chip and should be in a socket.they sell these at your local radio shack, they're a digitive sound audio amp chip

I would check your caps and transistors in your sound section the 1815 transistors of q1-q6

The grin sound isn't one of the analog sounds though, at least from what I can tell. Older versions of MAME used samples for all the analog sounds, and when I run one of those older versions without the samples, I still get the grin sound (but don't get the running, jumping and pound sounds)

Exactly. This guy is getting his analog sounds but not his digital ones. Which means the problem most likely lies in the area of the sound micro and/or associated ROMs. Could be the control logic as well.

Ah ok, I misread that...I thought you were implying the grin sound was one of the analog sounds...never mind, carry on :D

Seems pretty obvious to me, but have you tried replacing the 8035 MPU?

Since it controls all the digital sounds and you have none, probably a likely culprit.
