Hello,
I am trying to convert a machine back to a Donkey Kong from 8 ball action.
8 ball was booting and playing ok. I replaced the 12 EEproms and the 3 Proms with the DK chips.
Now it just boots to a scrambled screen of charachters a real quick sound before it shows this screen that sounds like the jump sound.
I have checked and had another person check that all the chips were inserted properly.
I have pulled all the newly inserted chips to make sure that I didn't bend a pin under and they all looked fine.

Is there anything else I need to do to convert this back?
Anyone have any ideas on what may be causing this?
If no one has any suggestions I may try putting the 8 ball chips back in to make sure that still works.

I tried to attach a picture of the screen but it says upload failed.

Thanks

I dont believe its just a chip swap.. There have been wires soldered on for the eightball conversion.

Ok, someone let me know that not only were the Eproms and Proms swapped but the Z80 CPU was also replaced with a different chip. I am ordering a replacement Z80.
I did find the 8ball conversion installation manual and it looks like it was just the eeproms/proms and the Z80 I didn't see any other hardware modifications.
I did put the 8ball chips back in and 8ball still plays fine.

8 ball was a simple conversion. unlike the others that required cutting traces and soldering on wires.

if you have any problems with it after the CPU change shoot darthi8nt a PM he is the master on repairing Nintendo boards.
