I've got two Eproms I've checked at 3N and 7F, however Mame does not have these roms included. I'm getting bad checksums on each but nothing to replace them with.
I'm getting garbage character on screen and I thought I had it nailed at 5B, but apparently not as reburning the Rom didn't fix the problem even though it was showing a bad checksum.
Is there a site with both 3N and 7F images?
I included a snapshot of the screen but I'm not sure it's a Rom issue at this point. I hear a mario Jump when I power on, but then this is all that is on screen.

Ok, well I've checked every Eprom. Those I've found that were showing the wrong checksums I've corrected. It didn't change anything however. I've checked the ribbon cable connections. Checked socketed IC's.
Thanks Gburg on the Eprom ID's.
This is an initial repair upon acquiring the project, so God knows what's all wrong with it. But it probably has been for years. At this point I believe it's beyond my ability to diagnose.
So going to start a new thread looking for DK repair techs.

Well. I found a repair tech. Got bored and went out to the garage. Started screwing around with Kong. I tried shorting pin 26 for a reset. I also tried unplugging and plugging back in the ribbons on all 4 positions. I then replaced the Z80 processor and then started getting something. I was getting a startup, but very faint intro music and very faint Kong snicker. But then it would reset.
I then pulled all the Eproms again and double checked each and every one. Found that 3N, 7F and 5B were once again failing checksums. So apparently 3 bad Eproms. I replaced and reprogrammed the 2532 and 2716's with new I had in stock. I am now getting the attract mode, still faint snicker and faint intro music. The only sounds I'm really getting loudly are the thump thump thump and mario walk and jump sounds.
However, no barrels, no mario, no kong, no whateverhername is and no fireball. The characters and barrels are ALL invisible. I'll have to check again to see if there were any hammers. But all the other Eproms checksums checked out fine. I'm wondering if it could be a Prom issue? If so I don't think I can do anything with proms with the GQ-4X USB programmer.

This might be it. MC10125 at 1H on the Video board. Missing sprites. Apparently I have more than one problem. I'll have to do a little more digging on the sounds problem.
