Interesting idea. Please post pics when you get it started.

Awesome!!! Great to see somebody else doing something original. I am working on a few projects similar to this one. They all have the Nintendo theme because I really love their arcade cabinets. It is such a classic design. I love my Mario Bros widebody cabinet more and more every time I see it.

Transferring the Nintendo cabinet shape into my machine has been challenging. Lots of curves to copy. It is hard to get them exact, but it will be worth it!

I can't wait to see how your machine progresses. Keep us posted! Looking forward to pictures of your progress. Good choice on the color too! :)

There are a lot more, but that is the one I think is closest to the original posters idea here.

Hey, thanks for the link! Just getting into this hobby, so I haven't seen much in the way of custom machines. That is definitely right up my alley. Now I REALLY can't wait to get some mini machines going!!

I love them too... Here is my Defender/Stargate.

There are a ton of very little ones, but I'm partial to the ones that mimic the lines of the original cab, even if it means they're larger.

Didn't mean to derail thread, sorry!

It would be cool if that Stargate mini had stenciled side art.
I wonder if Prok could make it that small?

LOVE that cabinet!!! :D Beautiful work!! I could stare at thing that all day long...

Seeing more of these has really inspired me. Definitely not off topic. It is good to see how everybody builds them.

I have spent the last two hours drawing my Donkey Kong and Galaga cabinets in CAD and 'miniaturizing' them. It is really a lot of fun. Can't wait to see more updates from the author of the thread!

Do you guys make these or are they for sale? Is someone making them? Thx

Thank you very much. I built it because I couldn't find a clean Defender or Stargate locally. I actually had the red paint to make it more authentic, but fudged it at the last minute and went with the black. The color of Stargate is the one thing that never appealed to me. I'm still torn about the decision.

jimkirk: I was actually going to hand cut some stencils. They always say make sure your game is complete before its playable. That is so true! I made it playable and that was the end of the build!

Braido: This was my first scratch build, and if I can do it, anyone can. A couple pieces of MDF, a jigsaw and a router are really all you need to get started. I did all my plans with a pencil and a piece of scrap paper at work. Its using an old junk Pentium 3 that wasn't good for anything else, but runs MAME and all the Golden Age games perfect.

There are a couple companies building mini's, but I think they are more generic shapes.

I'm also looking forward to seeing toads build pics!

I have some good news and bad news, the bad news is that I have no room for the plywood in my garage until I finish my other Donkey kong restoration project (sigh). and the good news is that I am all most done with my dk restoration project :).
