i have a donkey kong now got it with 2 other games. The problem is that thepicture is distorted and humming out of the speaker. the pre-owner said if you plug and unplug it couple of times the picture would be ok . i preformed this and never had it clear up to stay correctly . the sound is ok and you can play it but the picture is jumbbled. any help would be apprecated

also there is one on ebay right nowwith the same problems and has apicture ofthe distorted screen . thanks

First off search for Cap Kit on this forum you should find 100's of results. You have a Sanyo 20EZV and those are notorious for needing a cap kit. That is likely what your problem is. If you don't find any similar issues. post pics of what your monitor is doing.

Define picture being jumbled? That sounds like the horizontal sync needs to be adjusted with the pot on the chassis not remote board. Also - speaker hum is typical .... excessive loud ass hum means you need to cap kit the sound amp.

Thanks guys, thats the picture just like it. needs h- hold adjusted. the hum is cap kit in the sound board. I bought 3 machines-- donkey kong, arch rival and shinobi for 450.00

I had a similar problem with my Radarscope with the picture looking like this. I found I could make it start doing this by trying to adjust the horizontal position pot on the game board. So certainly seems to be a horizontal hold problem just don't overlook a dirty/bad pot on the game board.

Murph

The hum is typical and can't really be gotten rid of. It's a Nintendo issue.

Damnit as Dokert said the horizontal HOLd (not sync) lol.

As far as the comment being made "it's Nintendo you can't get rid of the hum" - that is correct and incorrect. Nintendos are infamous for humming however there is a point of EXCESSIVE hum. If this is the type of hum that can be heard from across the room you need to rebuild the sound board.

Strange, neither of my Nintendos hum at all. I must just be lucky I guess.;)

Mine don't really have all that much hum either. Most had minor hum before I rebuilt the amp but now it's practically unnoticeable. I have always been under the impression that the hum originates from the way the monitor power cord and audio lines (PCB audio out and speaker lines) were routed together out of the chassis. Maybe I'll test this theory on my next monitor.

Big Thanks to you Dokert !!!!! Ill see what the does when i get home

I had that hold problem in my DK, and a pot replacement kit from Bob Roberts fixed it, but while it was out I also capped it too. If the hold pot that dokert suggested doesnt work might as well check and see if your monitor has original caps and if so cap it and get it all done while you have the monitor out, its not that hard to do. I was offended how good the picture looked afterwards.

Thanks for all yall's help. That fixed it ! Thank you Dokert for the pic , that was dummy proof, lol. Should i restore the game ? I got 150.00 in it . cabinet is perfect. the only thing i see it needs is new t-molding , control panel overlay ( cigerette burns ) 1 quarter catcher for eject is missing,, micro switchs for coin door ( some one bent the wire triggers to make acess to trip credits) and new side art. there is not any on it but the cabinet is perfect ( one scrach 3inchs long) <blue cabinet> thanks again !!!!!!!!!!!!!

You can get the quarter catcher or coin return cover, that is what Asahi seiko calls it,if you can't find a used one. I am not sure about the switch though.
You might call them and ask about the availability of both items.
Ask for Mike Sparto,he is a great guy and will help you if he can.
