I'm having a strange sprite issue on my DK PCB with a D2K kit installed. Reseated the socketed chips, checked voltages and checked for cold solder joints and get the same results. I can't seem to find anything on the web that mirrors my problem.

Oh, and to be sure that it wasn't a problem with the wiring of my cabinet I tested it in my DK Jr. and got the same results. Oh, and the jump sounds sounds odd as well.

Anyone ever have this issue? Suggestions?

Looks to be a problem with the "match" circuit that checks to see if a sprite intersects the line being drawn, since the sprites disappear and reappear for 4-tile stripes.

The sound sounds like it's only playing one of the 3 sounds it should (sounds very similar to the Chinese multigame boards in that video).

What's odd is that the sound issue didn't start until "after" I reseated all the socketed chips. Going to be cleaning all the legs and sockets over the next few nights. Hope the sounds come back.

Status update... Removed all the socketed chips, cleaned the legs with a fiberglass pen and then sprayed all sockets with circuit cleaner... Did this twice... No change...

What is annoying is that the sound issue went back to normal, then went bad again.

Anyone know if there is actually a good schematic for DK PCB's? Where would the match circuit be located (general area). I'm going to be printing out the schematics tomorrow.

At least I know all the legs are clean!!!

Check the sockets, if it comes and goes you most likely have an issue with 3H/3F socket or chip not getting good contact somehow.

The only Schematics I know of are here:

I had a board with a very similiar issue. The problem was without a doubt on the CPU board - bad RAM - I don't recall exactly which one though. IIRC it was one of the two socketed RAM chips (holding the boardset with bracket in left hand) and the chips are located in the upper right hand quandrant.

Thanks for the info.

I'm bumping this. Alan was kind enough to test the match circuit with a scope of my board against a good working PCB. Unfortunately mine tested out the same as the working board.

Anyone know where I can get a good detailed schematic?
