Working on a DK cocktail. When you turn it on, you hear "BOING" pretty loud (because I have both volumes turned up).

Have a TKG-3 4-bd set that has a graphical issue and no sound. Swapped in a TKG-2 4-bd set and the graphical issue is gone, but still no sound.

Now, the TKG-2 was missing the two sound ROMs on the SOU pcb, so I used the ones from the TKG-3 set. I saw somewhere on here that they used the same ROMs, but that might not be accurate.

Anyway, I tried using the TKG-3 SOU pcb with the TKG-2 set, also, but no change. I can turn up the volume and hear hum. Since I hear the "BOING" at power up, I'm assuming the sound amp is good. I did some reading on Brasington's site and tried swapping the 8035 between the two SOU pcbs with no change.

So I'm thinking I either have bad ROMs, incompatible ROMs, a bad 8035, or some other issue.

Unfortunately I haven't been able to find a ROM set online for the 4-bd sets.

Any thoughts?

It's fixed. I'm a dumbass.

Didn't have the two cables from the sound board to the CPU plugged in. With the sound board installed, those two connector housings are hidden, and I couldn't figure out where they plugged in, thinking they might be for an upright cab. Online pinouts didn't list them, either.

Now that they are connected, sound works fine...

Boing!!!!

I have a donkey kong.
Plug it in.

BOING!!!!

And screen full of numbers, stuck frozen there.

Any ideas?

Where should I start?

Thanks
Imran
