Donkey Kong Junior - 1st Stand-up Purchase

Hello everyone. Noob here....

This is my first arcade game.

I think at some point the cord was replaced.

It is missing the ground post on the plug itself, should there be one?

If I do have to replace it should I look for anything to change?

Is there any harm in using a long extension cord to power the game itself?

Yes there should be a earth prong on the plug, all user facing metal parts of the cab need to be connected to earth, coin mechs, coin doors, control panel etc etc.

Without that earth prong if the exposed metal parts of the cab somehow become live then the user is likely to become the best connection to earth and get a bolt. Once you replace the plug it is worth checking that all exposed metal parts of the cabinet connect to that earth pin.

Okay.

I will replace the cord and try and backtrack any grounds I can find.

Does anyone know a total number of grounds I should be looking for?

Other than the "Donkey Kong" burn-in on monitor it looks to be original.

Also does a long extension cord hurt anything? Besides the bad ground plug.

Ground is a somewhat ambiguous term as the earth in a house is usually a metal stake physcially in the ground, but is still called earth on the AC side of things, have amended my 1st post. Ground is usually considered 0V on the DC side of things. Inside the cab you will probably find remnants of some way the metal parts of the cabinet were connected back to the earth prong on the plug, you just need to reconnect that up.

Don't connect the ground of the PCB to earth tho, that would be bad.
